so when 2 people are making a trade, the trade has to be acceptable to both parties ? how fancy an idea is that, who would have thunk that is how bartering worked.
Thanks for offering your incredibly witty sarcastic addition to the stream.

A good barter site or a good barter opportunity is when you offer (-X-) and ask what can you offer me in exchange. The barter only works if the deal is acceptable to both parties.

On a sidebar story to bartering. An old guy that I knew years ago told me about this drinking establishment in Toronto during WWII. It was for officers in the military and members of other federal organizations were allowed to drink at the bar and buy cigarettes and booze to take away. All the purchases were tax free and there was no profit made of the sale of booze and tobacco products because it was for military personnel. Many of the people allowed entry into this place bought booze and ciggys to barter with working girls. These items were in great demand due to shortages during the war. If the girls did not consume the products themselves the items could be used to barter at the grocery store for other items in short supply like milk, eggs and veggies. I do not know if this drinking establishment for military people was there before the war, but it as there during WWII and it lasted up to the 80s when the old guy told me this story. It may still be there, offering duty and tax free booze and ciggys.
Perfect example of where barter works: Where an item one has is worth more on the street that they paid/have invested. If both parties have something of similar description the opportunities are endless.

But I would be open to bartering for something that i need and Is "fair" to both parties.. But doesn't include coming to my home :) . Equal value though. I don't see the point in bartering 220$ in car repairs for 300$ in services- may as well make the 300$ and pay the 220$! Maybe an sp that doesn't have the cash would take that barter but im not sure why an SP wouldn't have $220 lol

The $220 car repair barter for the $300/hour SP visit oly works when the SP makes the offer after getting her car repaired. The $80 difference makes the deal attractive to the mechanic only if he is in the market for her services.

I can not get over there tonight, so I will tell you the most likely fix. Take a look at your flapper, you can find it when you take off the tank lid and look into the water tank. It is the rubber thing that lifts up when you push the handle down to flush the toilet. It may be that your flapper needs changing. This part can be found at Canadian Tire for $5-7. The other thing you can do is to bend the float a bit, that may solve your problem.

I hope to see your flapper in your crapper the next time I am over at your place.

Hm see now that would work, but can I really offer my mechanic an hour of me at the time of paying for my car repairs?? Haha shoot, maybe I'm missing out on alot of deals....

Anyways, the toilet.. U hope to see the flapper in my crapper?? Lmao!!!!! I tried both and the water keeps running over and into the tube even when i pull up on the flapper, bend the rod etc. Pinching the hose is the only thing that stops tge water flow. My last toilet repair cost me 400$? Mofo. Shoulda offered him a sesh....
i suggest you move to a place with fewer bathrooms.

Likely the float, or the valve itself, then - if you pull up on the float slightly, does the water stop? If yes, the float maybe water-logged, and need replacing; if not, then the valve's shot... Either way, I'd replace the whole works (valve, flapper, flush arm, everything...) - I'd offer to bartor, but I'd be coming from Barrie - and by the time I worked in my travel, I'd need like 2 hours of your time; and that kinda throws off the "value for BOTH parties" concept... ;)

So interesting question, then - if you got $14k worth of furniture without it costing you a penny, does that mean that they worked for free so you could get free furtiture?
I should have worded it better, I took delivery of said furniture without it costing me a penny, I have since been "financing with pussy".

I think you guys are missing the point. The furniture guy bartered furniture for a LOT of Cupids hours. Awesome for him. Of course the drivers and girls still got paid.

I had a regular client offer to install my ceiling fan a couple of years ago. It took him 3 hours because it was also a light fixture. I gave him free BJs for months afterwards. I have had my car fixed and gave services in return. Bartering can be great, I have something you need, you have something I need. What's the problem?

Bartering is a normal way of life in many European countries, unfortunately the government looks at it as tax evasion so it's underground and kept hush. The government wants the taxes for the services rendered from each party.

Do u need anybody to mow your lawn/ cut grass in ur garden?

Everyone barter in life and at times you do it without even knowing you did.

At time I wish I can barter but with what I deal with bartering has to be a very lucrative in return and not a 1 or 2 month things.

Yeah you barter, mechanics etc etc etc you have to remember in the end the actual cost of the product to the person, so if you bring in retail prices you will loose out in the end.
IE: Say your mechanic bill come of for 3hr work and parts. Labour will be $270.00 Parts $ 200.00 = $470.00 to actual mechanic it most likely would have cost him 30mins or 1hr of his time which works out to be really nothing if he is hourly, but flat rate is different and the parts most shop chage 40% on top of what the part cost them. So to make a long story short, the mechanic kinda wins or is it both ?

It is different for IT pro business where severs and high end security comes into fact, how can someone barter with that ?

This post probably does not make any sense but oh well... :)
