Two weeks from tonight marks the return to the gridiron.

It was interesting coming out of the lockout when all the FAs had to be signed, teams had to fill roster spots.

'Dog Killer' Vick is signed to a one year contract and the Eagles are attempting to sign him long term.
Indy lured Kerry Collins out of retirement to back up Manning who will likely not be ready for the start of the season.
Braylon Edwards signs with the 'Niners.
Plaxico 'Gunman' Burress stays in New York(or returns, depending on how one looks at it), but with the Jets instead of the Gmen.
Vince Young will backup Dog Killer in Philly.
Holmes stay with the Jets.
How many games will Tebow get at the helm of the Broncos ?
Reggie 'Don't Call Me George' Bush is in Miami. Did NO give up on him too soon ?

I do not know what to expect from my Cowboys. Having to play in that Jerry Jones ego stadium with that big ass screen above the field of play just inspires teams to try harder.

I'm loving Burress with the jets. The change of scenery will help keep him out of trouble.
Fat Angry Albert and Esteban going to the Patriots. The Jedi Master knows how to get a season or two out of shit disturbers like them
Poor TO. Is he out of the NFL for good?
CJ2000 still holding out and why wouldn't he. Desean Action Jackson back in camp and looking for a huge payday. Fitz gets biggest contract oiutside of the QB position
Buffalo Bills are still a trainwreck. Players going down with injuries left, right and centre
Adrian Peterson will not live up to the hype.

And how bout them Cowboys. I think they're in for a great season despite my loathing for them.

Adrian Peterson will not live up to the hype.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

With this statement you prove you know absolutely nothing about NFL football.

What hype? Adrian Peterson is beyond the hype. He IS the hype.

One of the only RB's left in the league that plays all 4 downs!

5782 career rushing yards (in only 4 seasons)
1189 yards per year average
104 yards per game average
52 TD's (in only 4 seasons)
14 TD's per year average

And incredibly, according to Leslie Frazier he is just "learning" to catch out of the backfield.
This guy is a bloody nightmare for anyone who faces him.
Best RB in the league right now.

You want hype? Look at Arian Foster.

While I agree with you the he is the best running back in the league hands down, I don't think he's going to live up to expectations or exceed his previous years' stats.

Fact 1. Vikings lost their best receiver in Sidney Rice.
Fact 2. Vikings are weaker on the Offensive line then in years past. Lost Bryant McKinnie and Steve Hutchison going into his 12th year.
Fact 3. Although Favre shit the bed last year, McNabb probably won't fair much better. That coupled with fact 1 means opposing defenses will have much more focus on the run game.
Fact 4. Defenses in the NFC north are arguably going to be much better this year than last. Lions got better. The Pack is flying high. The bears arguably are going to be a better defensive team.
Fact 5. Vikings have the 10th overall strength of schedule with the teams they face having a combined .516 record.

I just think that All Day will have a tougher year then in the past. Also has a newborn which may distract him somewhat. His arrogance may also be his downfall as he was recently on Rome and boldly stated he is the best player in the NFL.

I would not be surprised to see the NFC North end up Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago and Min.

Detroit needs Stafford to stay healthy to have any chance.

Chicago (my disfunctional Bears) could be a damn good team now that they added Marion Barber to go with Forte and Taylor, assuming Martz can check his ego and run the damn ball.

Green Bay should be steady this year.

You said everything there is to say about Min.
The Bears should finish ahead of the lions in the division but I don't think they will. Lions seem like they are gaining momentum. I think the one thing that they have in their favour is that Cutler is definitely out to prove himself this year after last seasons playoff exit and everyone questioning his toughness. Only problem is as you mentioned they'll need to run the ball to have any success. They lost Greg Olsen to the Panthers who I believe was Cutler's favourite target and Roy Williams is a complete joke. Between Johnny Knox and Earl Bennett the Bears don't really have a good receiving corps. One thing I will say about the bears is that they have arguably the best defensive player in the NFL in my opinion in Julius Peppers. But he can only do so much.

I'm just wondering as I watch a replay of the Bengals Panthers game whether Carson Palmer will actually stay out the whole season. Dalton Looks not too shabby in the first half.

I live in the Detroit area, and there is a lot of excitement about the Lions this year. Their preseason games have higher tv ratings than the Tigers. Even though the Tigers are in 1st, and in a competitive race for the Central division crown.
I see the Lions anywhere from 6-10 to 10-6. The NFC north might be the toughest division in football this year.

There is a good chance that a very good team from the NFC North misses the playoffs this year.

I love my Bears, but Detroit is going to be a tough game for anyone this year. I was not sold on Green Bay last year and am not sold on them this year, but that's probably cause I fucking hate the Packers, lol.
I said the same thing about the Bears last year. Thought they would be last in the division, not one game away from the superbowl.
It's such a thin line between winning and losing in the NFL, it's hard to say who will be on top.

Well I am happy to say I was wrong, so far anyway, about my Cowboys and the Eagles.
Romo is doing OK, but still I do not have any confidence in him should the Cowboys make the playoffs.
Dog Killer is getting his just desserts. I guess DK is finding out karma is a bitch with big teeth.

No one coughs up a lead better than Tony Romo.
OK so you have to put some of the blame on the defence. However if Romo was not giving balls away like Santa at Christmas, it would have been a cruise to the final gun.

The Cowboys loss to Detroit may very well have playoff implications.
I agree though that it isn't a matter of 'if' he gives the game away it is a matter of 'when'. More often than not it is in a clutch situation. Romo is a 'loser' and is the kind of player that rips the heart out of a team. He doesn't instill confidence in his players
because always in the back of their minds they are wondering if it will be 'now' that he gives the ball away.

I had misgivings about the hype about the Eagles before the season began and mentioned it one of thethreads here. Their scenario has played out before with other teams that try to add mega talent in the off season only to see the team go in the toilet
during the season. The defense may still recover somewhat by the end of the season as they develop some cohesiveness but it is worrisome and if they don't start playing tighter D the season is a write off.

Pittsburgh is in jeopardy of not making the playoffs. If Baltimore continues to play well and remain healthy they will win that division and a Wildcard for the Steelers is going to be tough to get.

Atlanta needs Turner to run the ball down Green Bay's throat on Sunday. Got to keep Rogers off the field for as much as possible if they hope to win. It is a statement game for both teams.

The Colts 0-4 vs the Chiefs 0-4.
KC Chiefs win !

So it is beginning to look like Indy will Luck into Manning's replacement.

I really like Calvin Johnson. He is one of the best, if not thee best, receiver in the NFL.

I'm going to this Sunday's game at Ford Field with the Niners vs Lions. I thought this might be a dud of a game when I got tickets back in August, but I'm a Niners fan and turns out it's a headline line game with the current records.

I just hope the Lions have something left in the tank, with a short week for the 49er's.

Go Lions! Expect a fired-up Lions crowd at Ford Field.

Oh yeah, Montana, Lott,..even before Rice came on the scene. Glory days when players like Freddie Solomon, Keena ( not Tina) Turner, Don Griffin, Charles Haley, Tom Rathman etc. were winning on the scene. Those were the days! I like what Harbaugh has done, but this will be a true test on the road ( in the east time zone again) against the second best NFC team IMO. Still not sold on Alex Smith, prove me wrong.

If we can stop Frank Gore, and make Alex Smith beat us, Lions should win. Go Lions!

I love how CTV butchers every telecast like they did with today's Bills-Giants game. Cropping the screen cause they can't seem to master the HD thing, commercial breaks that don't end on time, cutting away from games early, and today even randomly inserting a commercial for no apparent reason. Oh well, I guess the Canadian channels provide some kind of valuable service to society by forcing us to watch their mangled simulcast of NFL games.
