i live in the city, right downtown too. Does that give me an interest or relevant opinion?

'cause here it is.

City life is more than being able to drive your car in and out of the city to Costco on weekends. A great aspect of city life are these events. Closing down St Clair for the italian food thing, the Danforth for the various festivals, yes even closing down a section of Lakeshore Blvd for a major car race or the DVP for a bicycle or running event. Such events are part of city life that *I * like. Not all can be held in parks or parking lots. Even then, you're going to have whiners complain that "their" park or "their" parking lot is being "taken over" and things are noisy or there are too many people.

Wha wha wha

Get over it, its the city you are living in!
So you are saying that I should not voice a harmless complaint or express any dissatisfaction about problems I see or experience in the city, and instead just "get over it?". Or did I fall in your "sarchasm?"

I don't understand why people think they can explain to me why I shouldn't have a complaint. All the reasons above are valid, but it doesn't make it any better for me, now does it?

Anyway, that's it for me. Terb is just a bunch of contrarian nannies these days, so I'll go back to lurking. Clearly my thoughts and attitudes aren't in line with the Terb cool kids.

Somewhere but not here.
He's allowed to whine and complain - the rest of us need to be quiet. If you don't live in his city of course you need to STFU. And if you do happen to cross the line and travel into or through his city you better not use the precious parking lots or leave any trash as that apparently is what 905er's do for TO.

Man,you people in Toronto are so full of yourself. You whine about every lil thing that you don't like or agree with. The Indy is the biggest money maker for the city and the only event worth attending in Toronto.Poor babies who have to take the long way around the EX,or heaven forbid take public transit.

With so many different cultural and sporting events going on in this city, this is undeniably the comment of an ignorant individual.

The city has a lot to offer which many of us take for granted.

I took a cousin and her husband on their honeymoon from the old country. I did things that I hadn't done in years like visit the CN Tower, take a ferry to Centre Island, eat at a chinese restaurant downtown, visit Yorkville, then onto College street for gelato and cafe (on the house - they knew the ristorante's owner who travels to the home country a lot). It felt like a mini-vacation which was very nice.

Now I should check out Forty York and simply, the ROM.

It's crazy but I'm writing this from my office on a Saturday. Tomorrow morning, I hope to ride my bike to the Old Mill area. Enjoy the weather folks.

Are you kidding!!?? You've clearly never seen those outfits the drivers wear. Very Village People. To say nothing of the whole concept of expressing your essential maleness by lying behind a thrusting machine and pretending to control it better than other males in equally suspect clothing doing the same. With nary a woman involved anywhere, until after it's all over.
Well Ana Beatriz and Danica Patrick are competing this year so there's at least 2 female drivers. :)

Ok, sorry guys. I didn't mean to complain on the Internet. And I didn't mean to impugn the reputation of the poor misunderstood mayor. Please come downtown and spend money and have festivals. I love it all!!!!

You're delusional. Off the top of my head, both Caribana (or whatever it's called this year onward) and Pride bring in more visitors and revenues. A Yankees or Red Sox series on a summer weekend probably bring in nearly as much. Hell, the UFC event brought in more.

Next.

I don't know if it's the biggest tourist draw but it is significant:

http://www.plandaction.gc.ca/eng/media.asp?id=3299

"The Honda Indy generates more than $42 million annually in economic revenue for the GTA through ticket sales, job creation and related tourism activities and is considered one of the most prominent road races in the world of motorsports."

Pride is basically a 1 day event, same as Caribanna.Somehow I doubt anyone(out of towners) goes to Toronto for more than 1 night for those events.People that go to races from out of town are more likely to come for the full 3 days.
I guess I have to keep repeating myself ....3 DAY EVENT.

Without disputing the size of the draw, to declare it is the only event in Toronto worth attending is stupid, ignorant, narrow minded, uninformed, uncultured.... and I could go on ad infinitum.

And he doesn't even know how to spell bazooka which he attempts to use as his handle. WTF is a bazoka?

I can't believe Mayor McCheese thought it would be a good idea to close Lakeshore for 4 days when there is still major construction at Jameson just so they can have a car race.

your being a condescending nob...and you are also stupid...out of towners probably do stay longer than 1 day..do a survey of hotels and motels, then get back to us..
