If thats what you beleive Fuji, maybe you should try living that attitude rather than preaching it.
If you ever see me advocating the use of torture feel free to tell me that I've betrayed what Canada stands for. If you ever see me sacrificing my core principles in order to enjoy a bit more safety feel free to call me a coward. I'm criticizing the action and the view here really--if Simon is going to step up and say that he does not support torture then I will have nothing to criticize him for.

Sorry but I speak true here.

Do you beleive that our "enemies" are inferior?
Yes.

If you bothered to do some research on the incredible complexity of this situation even someone as willfully ignorant to facts would see the difficult challenges the military faces.
The solution to those challenges is not to betray our core ideals. Again, it would be better, less of a risk to our national security, to lose the war in Afghanistan, than to "win" it by ceding our core values. I don't think the military understands that. I think they believe that winning that war at any cost is in our national interest, and it is not--if we win it by torture we open ourselves to much more national harm than anything that will ever come out of Afghanistan.

I don't think we live in a nice perfect world and there's no way for you to read my posts and come to that conclusion. Try again.

You fail to comprehend that I take my principles seriously and unlike you don't sell them out cheaply. Unlike you I'm not a coward, I'm willing to accept some level of danger and risk to stand for what I believe in.
When I read this Fuji, I almost gagged on my coffee. This coming from a guy that regularly cheats on his wife, has girlfriends on the side and told us how classy he is being able to juggling a mistress, a girlfriend, and his wife well enough not to get caught, explaining it as that what classy guys are expected to do. You sense of a principled life really warped. The World According to Fuji. I can see the handout now.

it is like the guy that goes to church every sunday to be close to god and asks for forgiveness then spends the other 6 days of the week being a piece of shit that beats his wife.

Somebody gets it.

I suspect Fuji stopped hitting his wife. Let's give him that.

well people like you can sit around and say its not right and people like me can do what we do to make the world safe. people like you are disgusted by people like me but i promise you the world would be a lot worse off if you didn't have people doing things by any means neccesary.
Exactly right! And everyone from Stalin and Hitler back to Ghengis Khan and Attila said exactly the same thing—never forgetting that national hero, Vlad the Impaler. The only thing that separates us from them is the rule of law and respect for human rights.

'People like you' may be useful, even necessary, for the time being. But the better sort of people will find you, punish you, and slowly breed you out of the gene pool as humanity progresses. It's our only hope for making the world safe.

the day there is world peace will be the greatest day ever and i will celebrate with everyone else. does it matter how we get there or just that we get there.

comparing a guy that pours a pail of water over a guys face to try and prevent mass deaths to hitler senselessly killing millions out of hate for a race is a bit of a stretch.

but lets take the guys you brought up into an example. if you caught a guy and he knew what hitler was doing before ww2 even started would you not beat the ever loving fuck out of him and remove whatever appendage needed to get the information needed to stop hitler from even starting the war or does his comfort outweigh the millions that were killed for sport, tortured by hitlers nazi's and not to mention the soldiers that were killed.

i say fuck that 1 guy and protect the millions. "the needs of the many far outweigh the needs of the few or the 1" - spock star trek 2 the wrath of khan.

It's part of the human condition. You either accept it or you don't. If you don't accept it, that's fine, but you repudiate part of yourself that way.

All that's on the level of personal freedom, the sort of personal freedom that is guaranteed by a system that respects human rights and fundamental freedoms.

So far, I've not seen any posts from any members, since you first posted that you were classy, that agreed with you. That might seem to indicate you stand alone with this opinion, but we are used to that. It doesn't seem to be part of human nature on this board and there are some members who really push that envelope. I repudiate nothing. I don't see myself or anyone else to be any less of a man because I/they don't cheat on my SO. You don't have go on a weekend bender to know it's not right for you. It doesn't make you less of a person because you've not experienced blackouts due to excessive alcohol. That you do it is not the point, but that you do it and brag about it being classy is the real problem I and other members had with it.

Even in this post you're trying to equate it with personal freedom and and human rights. FFS!

Back to the thread. Bubye.

If you think sexual cheating isn't part of human nature you're naive. If you're on an escort board when you write that you're blind.

Men and women both have an evolutionary incentive to cheat. It's bred into us. It's as much a part of who we are, as sexual attraction is a part of who we are.

Lucky for us, repeating it doesn't make it so.

Here's an article for you: http://www.canadiancrc.com/Newspaper_Articles/Time_Magazine_infidelity_in_genes_15AUG94.aspx

It's a bit old and all I could find for you on short notice. Suffice to say the preponderance of evidence is that human males and females have an evolutionary imperative to cheat. In both sexes both committing infidelity and resisting it in your partner maximizes the odds of passing your genes down to the next generation.
