You are obviously right and the hundreds of million of people who appreciate(d) him have no sense.I feel the same way. It's not like he found a cure for cancer or something.
What were we thinking?

I love U2. Talent and ability wise - I think they're the greatest band going right now, arguably in the history of rock. (BTW, U2 have been putting albums out since 1980 with "Boy" which adds up to 31 years.)Right there with you asn, the beatles and john lennon's success was all about timing, nothing more. You want longevity in music look at U2. They have done more than the beatles every could, especially with using their position to highlight world issues. They are the real heros over the past 27 yrs in music.

Chapman is not getting out any time soon.Get over it .
Release Mark David Chapman !
It is time.
The man is dead.John Lennon was a singer/songwriter. He had terrible taste in women.
He is dead and has been for 30 years.
Then you don't understand how his sentencing works. Parole is the only way he can get out. His sentence was 20 years to life. This means that after 20 years he gets a parole hearing, and if denied release has a new parole hearing every two years, much like Charles Manson. Chapman's request for parole has been turned down every two years since 2000 and was denied again this year. What's surprising is that his conviction was for 2nd degree murder. Why the prosecutors didn't go for 1st degree when this was clearly premeditated, I have no idea.No he may not. He is an American citizen with a criminal record so I doubt he would be allowed to enter Canada.
Now as I said he served his time so he should be released without parole, if that is what you were referring to.
I really do not care one way or the other whether Chapman ever sees the light of day as a free man again.Chapman is not getting out any time soon.
Get over it.
So you celebrate the birthday of a dead person ? I see.The man is dead.
His music and message are not.
That's the whole point.
I could not be number one so I will settle for number two.I just blocked my second TERB member in 10 years (the first one was harassing me with PM's).
Ironhead, congratulations. You are Number 2.
Blocked for "General Stupidity"
No I am not a New York City attorney and do not have first hand knowledge on New York State law. Then you don't understand how his sentencing works. Parole is the only way he can get out. You're not on the parole board either. You still don't seem to get it. He got 20 years to life. After serving the minimum sentence he has the opportunity to present his case every two years as to why he should be released. It's been rejected every time, I believe unanimously. He hasn't served his time, he has served the minimum. His situation is not particularly unique. There are scores of murderers who are denied parole every year.No I am not a New York City attorney and do not have first hand knowledge on New York State law.
You may very well be correct. I thought the possibility of parole would and after the 20 year mark. In any event, on parole or not, I feel he has served his time and should be freed.
Your posts more than belie that.I really could not care less about the fate of Chapman.
Clearly one half of the greatest song-writing team of the 20th century.what's the big deal about john lenon? so what if he was part of the beatles....he's dead. the way people talk about him you'd think he was some sort of deity or something,
Clearly one half of the greatest song-writing team of the 20th century.
He also died and left his son Julian with ZERO. It all went to Yoko & Sean.
What did Julian ever do to him? Nothing. So why did John forget his own son in his will? Why does Sean get to live like a king and Julian does not?
The only conclusion is that as a father, John Lennon, great artist, is a complete and total douche bag.

I am not a lawyer nor a member of any parole board. True. You're not on the parole board either. You still don't seem to get it. He got 20 years to life. Wow you are weak. You cannot seem to except that I have a different opinion. Like I said previously, if this really mattered to me I would have been in NYC at the appropriate time. The subject came up and several people gave their opinion, I was one just giving my opinion.Guess what, as far as his being released, your opinion or mine doesn't matter squat. Pick another cause to carry the banner for. I've got to say when you chose your handle, you chose well.
