fair (home run) or foul
whether the ball actually left the playing field
whether the ball was subject to spectator interference
Let's rephrase that. Virtually no video replays. I still remember when A-Rod hit that camera that was hanging over the fence and they still called it a home run.

whether the ball was subject to spectator interference
I remember when the young Yankee fan reached over the fence and deflected the ball into the stands which the umpire(s) ruled a home run. (To be clear the umpire did not see the fan interference.) The kid became an instant celebrity in New York and if I remember correctly he appeared on several shows in the next few days like Regis and Letterman.

I'm almost afraid to ask how Jose Bautista will do in 2011? Lind and Hill crashed after their career year in 2009.
Since nobody knows the answer, there should be no fear in asking.

I hate to say this but I think he will come back down to Earth in 2011 like Lind, Hill and Wells. He will be a "marked man" in 2011.
They asked that question on Pardon the Interruption yesterday. Over/under was 40 HR's for next year. One said over and one said under.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

For the previous two years, I thought he was a bum, now I think he's a bona fide big banger. He's been doing it since last September. And now that his exposure is so high with post-game interviews and articles he seems like a genuine nice guy. No bloated ego to this point. It's fun to root for someone like that.

I think Bautista will have a good season in 2011 and I do not fear any steroid scandal. I look at him and he is not incredible large nor do before and after pics look any different.

Also, you can add two more home runs to season total for JB. At 52 now.
Jays now back to three over .500 with 78 wins. I think it is safe to say that .500 is going to happen, probably even one or two games over.:)

Jays win 79th of season on the strength of four home runs and Bautista was not one of them.
Hill, Snider, Encarnasion and of course Overbay with the walkoff, hit solo dingers to power the Jays to the 5-4 eleventh inning win.
The Jays have eight games remaining. One more game vs Baltimore, then three against the Yankees, to end the home schedule and then the final four games of the 2010 season at Minnesota.

Roy Halladay is going to the playoffs for the first time in his career.
Complete game shutout tonight for Phillies, only 97 pitches, 2 hits, 0 BB.
Probably his last start of regular season. Likely locks up the Cy Young award for NL.
Halladay is the first right hander to get 20 wins for the Phillies since 1955 when Robin Roberts did it.

Jays beat Yanks 7-5 for their 81st win of the season. 2010 will not be a losing season.
Those who made such dire predictions on here and elsewhere should be feeling ashamed of themselves. They have been noticeably quiet here of late. Worse than Baltimore some wrote Ha Ha!

Tallet made his usual contribution last night to keep the game interesting. Nice 1 - 2 - 3 by Gregg to close out the innings against the Yankees top of the order. Must have been a bit unreal for them though arriving so late in the night. Much bigger test is tonight.

Vernon's power is back. His 31 HR's so far is actually 2 ahead of A-Rod's 29. However, Vernon's batting average is only .270.

His batting average would be a lot better if he could hit against lefthanded pitchers; but, he does very little against them. (He bats .192 versus lefties and .291 versus righties.)
Guess can't expect too much against Sabathia tonight since he's a lefty.

Wonder if Drabek is going to get killed by Yankee bats.

Another rookie, J.P. Arencibia is going to DH tonight in place of Adam Lind.
Lind is batting .118 versus lefthanders and .275 versus righthanders. Could become a part time platoon player if he doesn't solve that problem. It's not good for a team to have a DH who bats .118 against lefthanders.

Kyle Drabek had his best outing so far last night and he seems to have a decent chance to make the team out of spring training next year.
Drabek would have allowed only one run if it weren't for John Buck having fits dealing with Drabek's curve ball, which has a really hard break at the plate.

Out of the group of 7 including Marcum, Romero, Cecil, Morrow, Litsch, Kyle Drabek and Zach Stewart, they should be able to have a decent five man rotation next year. Hopefully Marcum gets signed to a 3 or 4 or 5 year extension in offseason.
