I heard he's taking less money to sign outright, instead of a sign and trade. Miami will be saving money without the sign and trade...maybe money they can use on Anthony.

If all 3 big guys (Wade, Bosh, Anthony) are in Miami together it would sound like the Yankees, a team that try's to buy a championship...it shouldn't be allowed in ANY league or ANY sport.

How is that fair to other teams in the league????

Doubt that will happen as I hear Melo is signing an extension and he's still under contract. Speaking of fairness, more and more players are signing in the east which means you're starting to see more contenders now than before...which also means they'll beat each other up in the playoffs(more upsets) and make it easier for LA to make it to the finals once again boo hoo!!

Don't be so sure that Colangelo's rep will be damaged. This is on the assumption that Bosh will perform well. He will be under a great deal of scrutiny in Miami as there will be high expectations. The issue with Bosh is that he is a complementary player - ok he has Wade. But Bosh is also somewhat frail. He only plays about 70 games a year and he has knee problems. Wade himself gets injured quite a bit. Could it be that in a year or two these guys will become more injury prone and not less. Bosh got his payday but we may be thankful that the Raptors don't have him a year or two from now. Colangelo would have been under huge pressure to make Bosh a max player.

Toronto is going to have a bad year coming up - but in a year or two it could be alright. Of course I could be wrong but Bosh doesn't seem to show the toughness of other elite NBAers

It's also kind of funny listening to espn radio hearing them already written Toronto off as a nba franchise. They joked how the team will fold and move to a US city cuz we care more about hockey. How ignorant can they get. I believe Toronto will still embrace and follow basketball even wthout a marqee star and most ppl in the city will have low expectations for the next while. Basketball is one of those sports where a team can turnaround quickly with key additions/subtractions. The Raps will struggle next year or two and they may need to bottom out with high draft picks, but as long as they play and give their best, fans will definitely still suppot them.

You are dead on. MLSE has tons of resources and financially the team is doing ok. Playoff revenue would help but there is no danger in the team leaving.

I agree Bob L about the American media but the interesting thing about it is that what American players and media think will not matter as much in the future. We are seeing International basketball grow rapidly. Toronto with it size anddiverse population is well placed to take advantage of this.

I think what will happen is that the NBA will eventually be competing with European leagues for talent.

Actually I was thinking the exact same thing "in the past". All those times we were complaining we want to be more athletic, tougher, rebounding and to be running more....you need more bros. With so many euros last year, I wondered about the chemistry or lack thereof on the team.

He was nothing spectacular.
We had a shitty team to begin with, so of course he rose above them all.
There's a great article in the Sun about him and the other stars Toronto had over the years.
We should have gotten rid of him sooner.

With his bum knee (which won't get better with age) he's done.
No rings for Bosh in his future.
Like the article said, he was more about his celebrity status (on Twitter) than anything about his b-ball abilities or his team.

Chris Bosh is an excellent person and an above average basketball player. He will be missed.
Chris , does not enough ability to carry a team. He is not he go to guy for the last chance shot.
He is, however, the kind of player you want on your team. Always gives great effort, hates to lose and knows
the game. I wish him much success, both in his baketball career and personal life.

Absolute hogwash.

Manu Ginobili's plenty tough and athletic. Kirk Hinrich is tough and a very good defender. Chris Kaman is among the best 5-8 centres in the NBA. I'd take Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki on any team. David Lee is athlethic and a rebounder. Steve Nash is an perennial MVP candidate (who needs to be covered for a bit at the defensive end.) Younger big guys: Kevin Love, Marc Gasol, Andris Biedrins and Andrew Bogut. It's not about the colour so much as the character, skill and will. Notice that none of the Raps guys are on the list? Turk would be somewhere in the running if he played like he did in Sac-town or Orlando, but not the stiff who wore the Raps colours last year.

As the Blue Jays proved in their glory days, only establishing a winning team will get players here. If you build it, they will come. If you don't build it, they can't leave soon enough.

If the Raptors built a winning franchise - President, VP, GM, Dir of Scouting/Player Personnel, Coach, Assistant and players - then this wouldn't be an issue. As it is, this is a team with holes up and down the line. And unfortunately, that has been the case throughout the franchise's history.

Why would any player in the prime of his career come to a team with Jay Triano as the coach, and a lineup that includes Bargnani, Turkoglu, Calderon, etc.? Who on the Raps roster would start or even play a major role for a championship contender?

he's no LBJ or Kobe...but yes, he is an intellignet player and important piece if you wanna win a championship.

Or Wade. But few are.

The NBA is a guard/ballhandler's league. You need the go-to guy to be able to create his own shot. A big man/men who can score, rebound and play defence are the (distant) second most important piece of the puzzle.
