Giambrone running for mayor is analogous to, “the skipper of the Titanic applying to be admiral of the fleet.” (The Globe and Mail)
I see him as more of a Gilligan, than an actual skipper.
He’s not an idiot. His CV is actually quite impressive. More dangerous and troubling, is the fact that he’s a zealot. An NDP youth activist at the age of 15. Ran for the NDP feds in 97.
But more troubling than being a lifelong NDP ideologue, is the fact that he’s a ultra-green, anti-car, eco-nutbasket.
An anti-car zealot, shouldn’t be the TTC Czar. A rational Czar should work with drivers, and bikers to make the city work. The city has to move. Cars and trucks move it, with HELP from the TTC. Not the other way around.
Adam wants to save the planet, not save the city.
He seems to believe that by making it harder to drive in the city, we will all switch to the bus. That’s obviously crazy but how else do you explain his methods?
When every sane person believes we need to expand the roadways in a city growing as fast as Toronto, Giambrone is promoting every initiative he can to limit the number of lanes, to further slow things down. And kill off parking too, which is a city cash cow, or used to be.
Consider Liberty Village, the new residential area on former railroad lands between the Gardiner, and King St, and East of Dufferin to Strachn. It’s already big, with something like 3000 new units, and I’m told, another 5000 units still to come, with three new condo towers, and more row houses and lofts.
Some of those people will be going North to work, one might think, correct?
Instead of widening Landsdowne, a one time wide fast people mover out of that area, he deliberately NARROWED it. Unbelievable.
When outraged constituents especially Landsdowne residents who got screwed out of their street parking, asked, “Why?” He said the residents of Landsdowne ASKED him to push the agenda through - an outrageous lie - which resulted in nearly every house on Landsdowne placing a sign on their lawns pleading – Giambrone, don’t narrow Landsdowne. Anyone remember that? Landsdowne had a sea of yellow signs. On nearly every single house.
The little shitbird actually claimed he had personally door knocked on Landsdowne to talk over the plans, but not a single resident interviewed by media later on could remember a single visit from the lying prick, or knew anyone who had talked to him.
He’s doing the same thing to Roncesvailles, calling it “Sidewalk Improvement” but its just street narrowing under another name. And believe me, its hard enough to move around this area as it is.
Bike lanes everywhere. Narrowing St Claire to one lane in each direction (in a few spots) the six lanes of St Claire, into one car lane in each direction. Today they started talking about narrowing University Ave for bike lanes.
It’s crazy.
I heard the new streetcars are going to stop traffic in both directions. So passengers will be able to step off the new cars on both left and right sides of the cars and cross the street at a stroll. How much slower will that make a drive down a streetcar arterial street?
He’s crazy.
I’m having buttons made up. ANYONE BUT GIAMBRONE.
Enza the supermodel would be preferable.
