The race for mayor is ridiculously long. When is the actual election?

I loved the "Giambrone is gay" sequence.

1) Now Magazine endorses him, and lists his being gay as one of his good qualities.

2) Giambrone laughs and says he is flattered, but not gay. He says he and his partner "Sarah" laughed about it.

3) Some guy from a Toronto gay organization involved in city politics says in response to this, that just because someone spends lots of time hanging out in the gay village, does not mean they are gay. And that it is hard for a gay politician to be open about it, there is pressure to claim to be straight for universal appeal. But that voters should not interpret these comments to mean Giambrone is gay. No, not at all.

He looks like a fun guy to hang out with, but I won't trust him with the city. It has too much problem for him to handle. He probably think being a mayor is just a fun game.

The mayor we need should be someone who is passionate about our city..... to the extend that he is upset about the state that our city is in. He should not be afraid to bring changes to this growing city.

I think the opposite is true, he's too earnest to be much fun to hang with - that's why he made this video to try to dispell that notion.
You can't find too many guys more passionate about the city but that isn't enough to make someone a good mayor.
I'm going to wait and see what changes he'd like to bring.

Don't be fooled by his public persona. He's slick and very savy with high political asperations, not some fun guy. Spend some time with him and you'll see that its all just an act.. Trust me he just sees this all as being a springboard to put himsefl where he thinks he belongs; up on the national stage with the NDP party that he once ran. He's basically trying to mimic Jack Layton's moves.

It'd be disaterous to put him in any kind of power, just look at how he's been using his position as TTC chair over the years to serve his own interests.

I've had occasion to work with more that a few Councillors. The fucking idiots are there to be sure.

But Giambrone is actually not one of them. I was working on a project in his ward and had to deal with his office. They returned calls, they tried to help out.

I may not agree with his NDP politics, however, from my experience with him, he did his job. (More than I can say about Bill Saundercook.)

I don't think you would be wise to snicker at him and to write him off as a boy. If anything, too bad he wasn't more of a centrist.

We have Smithman and also-rans Rocco Rossi, Sarah Thomson on the centre right.
We have also-rans Giorgio Mammoliti and Joe Pantalone on the centre left.
Only Giambrone on the left.

Nobody on the right, yet - will their supporters stay home or go for Smitherman to make sure Giambrone doesn't slip in with a split vote?

It's far too early, I'll wait until Labour Day before it gets interesting.
Sorry but none of these, other than Thomson, are centre right. Smitherman is to the centre left, Rossi and Gino Mammoliti are down the middle and Panatlone and Giambrone are left.

I read somewhere this little dumbfuck wants to put in a "new" farbox based on '70's style technology when the province wants to go smartcard. He can't lead a cat to its litterbox much less the TTC or the city. I can only wish he or his dipshit staff come knocking on my door so I can have the pleasure of booting his ass off my heavily taxed property. Fucker.

Yeah. I. Hate. Him. And. Miller. Fuckhead. Too.

It's fair to say this slate for mayor is very weak. If Giambrone can run, I'm thinking of running myself now.:D I'll blow him out of the water when it comes to business issues and budgeting, he's a novice at best.

It's stupider than that, it's not "wants to", its being used right now on the 31 Greenwood Route. These new fareboxes wont be compatible with the unified Presto smartcard that Metrolink has mandated to be completed for 2011.

I wish the whole city council would run for mayor. THAT way... they couldn't run for council and we'd get a new slate.. which is exactly what we need.
City Hall needs an enema... STAT.
My ideal leadership would be a triumvirate... headed by Tory.. with Slitherman and Rossi as his pit bulls... The fur would fly for sure at City Hall... if they all could put their egos aside (I know tht's asking a lot)

Put rob Ford in there for good measure.. as well as the 3 or 4 who voted against giving Adrian Heaps a raise... and the roster would be complete.
EVERYONE that voted to give Heaps a raise should be GONE!! They got caught.. then they all ran and hid. Those that voted for this raise against advice of counsel are guilty of fraud or theft in my view.

Why do they choose to not listen to Legal Counsel when they say 'Don't give him the money'... but decide to listen to Counsel when they say...'If anyone asks you anything about it, say you can't comment because it's before the Courts.'

Becasue they will do whatever is to the personal advantage of their little club.

That place needs an ENEMA I tell you... a serious enema.....

Don't get me going about Sandra Busson and the fucking bunny suit she had the taxpayers pay for... or happy Howard....

Or the bike lane on Jarvis... or the St Clair streetcar debacle... or the 1,254 mastercards in the hands of City Managers that spent over 9 million $$$ last year.. and no one has a list of card holders.... or the busses that won't start in the cold so they leave them running all night... but will ticket US if we idle for 3 minutes in the sweltering heat or the freezing cold....

or the garbage strike... Jesus.. I gotta quit now or I'll be here all night...

I'm just sayin'...CITY HALL NEEDS AN ENEMA

They put out so much shit... .. gawd.. I feel like I need an enema now...

Haave a good day...

The mayor of Toronto has no power because of the 42 counsellors (clowns). Everyone who wants to run for city counsel should be allowed too and the top 10 vote getters make it to city counsel and the top vote getter is the mayor. The system is in need of repair FIX the darn thing will ya.
I don't live in the city so I'm not sure who I'd vote for.
