My favourite episode is where they all get high on grass brownies.
Fish is jumping across rooftops and Yamana had some great lines. "Mooshie. Mooshie. Mooshie." and "Barney, Barney, Barney, your mother's from Killarney." I guess those lines are only funny when you hear Jack Soo delivering them.
Or, those lines are only funny if you're high on grass brownies.
When real New York detectives are asked which TV show is most like their real jobs, most say
Barney Miller. The situations are exaggerated for comic effect, of course, but the concept of having most of their cases easily solved by finding compromises between the complainant and the alleged perpetrator, without going any further into the legal system, was most like the truth.
I missed
Trailer Park Boys on my list, but I'm surprised that no one has mentioned
The Job, with Denis Leary.
