Remember that big emu phase a few years back when everyone said that it was going to replace beef? Or was that ostrich?
It was Ostrich.

But don't feel bad. It tastes just like emu.

there is a few of things that I would not try

1) fresh monkey brain, spooned out of a live monkey's skull

2) headcheese

3) human veal or ay other people dishes unless I got stranded in the Andes like in the movie, Alive

yes to all above + more.

waterbuffalo or wildebeest

But I would add a more personal, difficult question:

Could / would you slaughter, eviscerate and prepare any or all of the above?

Dad was a farmboy and taught me.

What about lips and assholes?

Actually, if you've ever had a hot dog you've probably eaten just about every form of protein available.

You need one more option for that poll. I do and have eaten both as well as partridge and moose. There is a butcher on hwy 6 north of the 401 that also sells buffalo and emu. tried those also.

Dave
I know the butcher you are talking about. i used to stop by there all the time when i was up that way on holiday and everytime i asked for buffalo he said we dont have any after about 4 years of that crap i asked him why do you advertise something you never have he said it gets people to stop and they usually buy something anyway. What an asshole. to get back to the poll i agree with you there needed to be another option. I have ate them all and its a tossup between the moose and the buffalo. Barbacued goat or coon is also pretty tasty if fixed right.

There is a grocery store in Cambellville (probably the only grocery store in town) which seels frozen venison, ostrich, buffalo, etc.

Acouple of years ago a mp opened next to that grocery store. I never made it in cause i was afraid my in laws would notice my car in the parking lot. It didnt last long cuase my sis in law said everybody was raising a shit load of stink. i always wanted to go Mountsburg and steal one of their Buffalos or elk.

There is a butcher in the St. Lawrence Market that specializes in game meats. I think they are called "white castle" but I can't remember. When you go upstairs to the second level they are on the immediate left of the stairs. I've bought venison, buffalo, elk, duck, and rabbit there.

I look upon it as a contest: How many animals can you eat at one sitting?

At Dim Sum, why not eat duck tongue, beef tripe, pork dumplings, chicken feet, most common seafoods. Go up north and eat caribou, musk ox, char, and seal. Eat at Carnivore in South Africa or Kenya and get the zoo experience. Or, stay at home and rail at shamefull 8-8 teams making the playoffs whilst waving a leg of lamb in the air with righteous indignation.

Eat, damn you! The best deer I've had was as sausage, but rabbit makes a good wine/ paprika braise. If it lives with it's back to the sun, I'll get to it sooner or later.
