You just reminded me, I was at the store last week and I saw some brand I don't ever recall seeing, NoodleKing or something? The packs were .12c a pack. I did a double take when I saw that price cause they haven't seen them that low in so many years 😂
Call me a sucker but I saw these and actually bought 2 boxes of them LMAO

No it wasn't. It's a phony stock chart.
I'm not going to vouch for the source of that graphic. I traced it to a Reddit post of an X re-tweet. I don't follow the stock market.

I DO know that Loblaws has been successfully sued for price manipulation. There was some sort of class action judgment against them recently. I received a notification that if I sent my e-mail address and said that I had bought bread sometime during a ten years or so window, I'd receive about fifty bucks sometime this year. This wasn't some scam e-mail from an .io domain server. This was an official notice saying anyone who applied before the deadline would get an equal share of the amount.

I have, actually, bought bread at Loblaws during that period. I really like their sourdough bread, but it's expensive, and the loaf shape makes it difficult to make more than a few sandwiches that aren't bite size.

I usually stock up on President's Choice horseradish mayo when it's discounted. It's really difficult to find stores which carry it. Sometimes I've seen it at a ValuMart next to the Main Street subway station, and it's almost always available at the Maple Leaf Gardens store. It's one of my favourite condiments. It goes especially well with Parmesan cheese and lemon juice on fish.

And COVID is over. That chart was Loblaws' stock price from about mid 2019 to the end of 2024.
"As of mid-April 2026, Loblaw Companies Limited (L.TO) stock is trading around CA$62–$63, with forecasts suggesting a potential moderate rise. Analysts provide an average 12-month target of roughly CA$68–$92, citing stable performance, though high debt-to-equity ratios and market volatility remain potential risks for the retailer."

I don't like the the rise in grocery prices either, but smart shopping can lessen the pain. And maybe the people who complain about stock prices, should buy in.

I am single, but my grocery bill is insane.

I shop at walmart, and buy mostly the generic Great Value brand.

I eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat, since I believe eating healthy is important.

Yesterday I went to buy some groceries and the bill came out to $150. I bought a big bag of rice, some stew meat.($22), vegetables, fruits, and some other essentials. They all fit into one shopping bag.

I spend about $600 a month on groceries, and that doesn’t include takeout or eating out.

The price of beef is insane. Just a small pack of stew meat cost $22. I remember when it was nine dollars not too long ago. I haven’t had shrimp in such a long time because it’s so expensive, as well as salmon.

Even getting some fruit, such as a few mangoes, some kiwis, grapes, And a melon can cost about $30.

I’ve noticed the packaging for many items has gotten a lot smaller as well so it’s even worse.

Have you noticed that groceries are much more expensive than just a few years ago?

What are you guys talking about ?

"affordability's the best it's been in over a decade"

Good luck with that, the grocery market has become a dualopoly just like the telecommunications market. Loblaws and Empire owns 80% of the grocery chains. Were I live the closest supermarkets are Loblaws (Fortinos) and Empire (Longos). It's only a mater of time before the other chains like Metro and Pattison get swallowed up. I don't idle my car at a Tim's drive through but I do buy the tins, the latest price at Longo's is $34.99.

Remember when Galen Weston tried to promote himself as a Canadian Jimmy Stewart?

they'll get away with it until they dont and then they'll get slapped with a 10 thousand dollar fine and continue to do it because 10k is nothing to them and it never amounts to anything as usual :)
Yup, essentially a parking ticket.

Do you remember 4 years ago when the Liberals and the Democrats told all of North America to stay home to avoid a really bad cold that had a 99%+ survival rate? Do you remember when they printed a shit ton of money to just give to people so they could stay home? Do you remember when the Liberals and the Democrats were told this would cause extreme inflation? Congrats, here it is!

Now add the carbon retard tax, and voila, everybody is eating no name mac and cheese because that’s all they can afford.

Fuck Trudeau, Fuck Biden, Fuck Carney, Fuck the WEF, Fuck Iran (inflation isn‘t their fault, but they’re a bunch of dickheads, so…)….
Totally agree. Bottom line, the Canada that every body loved is gone, finished. Only way to survive and thrive is to leave. I have. No longer a Canadian resident. If you don’t have anything holding you back, leave for South east Asia or Eastern Europe or even Sri Lanka. Panama and Equador also have a big expat community. All offer great lifestyle on a fraction of the cost. And no Left Wing bullshit either. Ok , you’ll miss hockey and maybe the blue jays but you won’t miss the winters, the homeless, the taxes and shitty government. Lol.

To prevent a mass exodus the Canadian government is planning on charging $500,000 if you want to leave the country so if you're on the fence, leave now before they implement this fee.

Yeah. Thats insane. They know anyone with money is likely to leave. Many young people starting their lives post university is considering leaving. No good jobs, Out of reach housing, taxes and regulation killing entrepreneurship, cost of every day life is through the roof, horrible mood and sentiment everywhere. Leaving is the wise choice !

Ya it's pretty amazing the criminal tactics that the government is adopting. This reminds me of when pimps charge a woman a 'leaving fee'. I can't think of any other example of a person being financially penalized for wanting a better life. Crazy....

If the Iran thing happened pre covid, the economy could tank it. Post covid, this is a potential death blow if it continues. I yearn for the good old days when everything was too expensive except gasoline.

Elbows up!
Anyone who voted for the Liberals voted for this! People who voted kept the Liberals in power have no one to blame but themselves! However, since no one wants to take responsibility for their "asinine" decisions, they will blame President Trump!
Elbows up!
Fools!

Not only are meat prices sky high, grocery stores are overcharging, inflating the weight.
I watched this yesterday - on the plus side I weighed my Costco meats for fun after seeing this video and Costco weights were spot on 😊
