1. Has to be Erik karlsson, 7 more years at 11.5 million, he looks washed right now.
2. Tyler Seguin, 7 more years at 9.8, ouch, 13 goals in 88 playoff games. What happened to him? 2 goals in 26 po games last year.
3. John Tavares, 11 mill till 25, is he a step behind already? I think the leafs want at least a 40 goal pace each year, no?
4. Max domi was a bad signing also but only 2 years, will he get another contract after, maybe a mill or two?

I'd say on that list it would be Erik Karlsson...San Jose is in last place and should be looking to rebuild and that contract will be hard to move.

That may be asking a bit too much. He's only averaged 32/season over the last 10 seasons. The only time in his career he got over 40 was 2 years ago with 47. Even 35/yr is above his average.

You mean the only year in his career he ever scored 40 was when he played with Marner?

On that list I'd go Doughty, Kings are another team that should be rebuilding and won't be able to dump that contract easily.

I think some of these contracts were made on the assumption that revenue and the salary cap would keep rising forever.

It may take a while before we see another $11mm annually contract again.

Team by team:
St. Louis, Washington. Anaheim, Winnipeg, Vegas, Philadelphia, Colorado, Columbus, Carolina, Boston, Detroit, no real stinkers.

Vancouver has 2, Eriksson 1x$6, Tyler Myers 3x$6.
New York Islanders Andrew Ladd 2x$5.5
Chicago Brent Seabrook 3x$6.875
Edmonton Zack Kassian 3x$3.2
Dallas, as mentioned above, Tyler Seguin 6x$9.85
Toronto, if you want to say John Tavares is overpaid, okay 4x$11 He's better than a Pt/Gm/as a Leaf/he's +17
Minnesota the twins~Zach Parise 4x$7.538 & Ryan Suter 4x$7.538
Pittsburgh Michael Matheson 5x$4.875
Calgary Milan Lucic 2x$5.25
New York Rangers Tony DeAngelo 1x$4.8
Arizona Olver Ekman-Larrson 6x$8.25
Buffalo Jeff Skinner 6x$9
San Jose Erik Karlsson 6x$11.5
Montreal, not just yet, but Shea Weber 5x$7.857 & Carey Price 5x$10.5 are not likely to be pretty by the end
Nashville Matt Duchesne 5x$8
Florida Sergei Bobrovsky 5x$10
New Jersey P.K. Subban 1x$9 & Nico Hischier 6x$7.25
Los Angeles not just yet, but Drew Doughty at 6x$11, likely won't end well
Ottawa Nikita Zaitsev 3x$4.5

I was just going to bring up Carey Price. Can you even say right now he's a 10.5 million goalie? 9 games 5 wins 4 losses .901 SV% when his career is .917 SV%

P.K. Subban (darn someone just mentioned him)

It's just one year but $8mm for 1 goal and a minus 10. Guess who?

Vegas: Pietrangelo is the stinker so far. He hasn't been playing like a Norris trophy candidate for the $$$$$ he's making.

You've made this determination 11 games in to a 7 year contract?
Fair enough, that's a significant sample size.

John Tavares GP: 163 Goals: 79 Assists: 85 Points: 164

Mitch Marner GP: 318 Goals: 91 Assists: 227 Points: 318

I wouldn't say Tavares is the Leafs worst contract when he's a point-per-game player just like Marner and they both make almost the same $$$$$.
