With mask mandates lifting, are you still going to wear one?

Will you still where a mask?

  • Yes - all the time

  • Yes - sometimes in settings with big, close crowds like planes, arena,

  • Yes - but only in stores

  • No

  • Depends on my mood that day

  • Don’t know yet.

That doesn't invalidate his recommendation to lift the mask mandate because most of Ontario is vaccinated, and we need to learn to live with this virus, and get back to a normal life.
Mask mandates have been perverted by political science. Watch for Ford to impose mask mandates very soon after his probable majority election win in June . The mask mandates may comeback even sooner depending on the level of carnage from this sixth wave and the defence postures that Canada often emulates from America agencies like the CDC and the UK.
With respect to the Omicron variant B2 and the current efficacy of the existing vaccines against it, the vaccine status of Ontarians is in continuous flux and is nebulous and ill defined at best.
Then there is the probability of the continuous threat of new variants arising globally and for centres like China not being forthright in reporting then as the UK and South Africa did.

Case counts are not relevant if the hospitalizations remain low/stable. No sense in enforcing masking for the rest of eternity. Covid will still be here a decade from now.

I have noticed as time goes on more and more people are maskless in big spaces. Just like previous waves the case count in the summer will drop to pretty low numbers. Do not see Ford putting mask mandates back in place in the middle of the summer.

Not necessarily, as we are in a pandemic with many twists and turns. Case counts are relevant because many will be sick at home and not necessarily a hospital statistic and the spectre of Long Covid increases in the general population
I hope you are right though!

I am following the guidelines set by Kieran Moore, the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Ontario, the jurisdiction in which I live, not any medical findings or articles posted all over the internet, from unverified sources.
So you take the word of an electioneering politician over peer reviewed scientific papers. Good to know.

Current hospitalizations are just a bit below the peak of the 1st wave and 4 times that of before the omicron wave. It also appears that they are starting to rise (right around 2 weeks after the mask mandate ended ...exactly as predicted). Hopefully it won't go too high too quick because we know Ford won't risk his populist voters over something as small as people dying.

No-one. But it's odd that thousands of people in Ontario are still wearing non-N95 masks that offer little protection against viruses, when they don't have to, anymore.
So even though your assertions are very wrong, why do you care if others wear masks? Does it affect you in any way?

I answered this question, already. Please try to keep up.
I know. That's why my statement didn't have a question mark. It's sad that you ignore peer reviewed science simply because it doesn't fit your political preconceptions.

I'm only gonna wear a mask if I need to commit a crime and/or conceal my identify for any other reason!
It also helps with lying to peoples faces, I think we all need to train our facial expressions again.
