Yes. If only America could find someone who could "spread the wealth around". Then our country would live in perfect harmony.

The poor and middle class would be too stupid to back him/her. So they are really responsible for their own enslavment. Americans really deserve their current predicament, as do Canadians. One reality of democracy is if the masses are idiots, they will back idiotic policies and the demagogues that espouse them... unfortunately that is about where we are now.

He told me how at every turn he was a victim of ethnic hatred because he wasn't German. He told me that he couldn't even go to a train station to buy a ticket for a train and the guy selling him the ticket would call him a "dirty pollock" or words to that effect.

I seriously doubt that. People may make jokes in private (just as they do in Canada), but they don't spout it into your face.
