The point...that is clearly lost on you...is that the same people who called (let's keep it simple...) other people climate change deniers, are the same ones who scrapped it to get elected. That's how desperate they were that they could go from one extreme to the other.

Using your example...That's like Pierre calling an entire group of people wackos for decriminalizing some hard drugs (which was the reason btw)...and then when trying to get elected, decriminalizes the same drugs.

The Liberals scrapped it because it was a ponzi scheme no one wanted or trusted any longer and people had enough of it being forced upon them. If they did not fear losing the election they would not have scrapped it and would continue to increase it and berate anyone who dared to criticize it like they were doing for 6 years.
If it hasn't downed on you the reason why people were criticizing it in the first place was because they knew it did not help the environment.

Their own MPs were crying to Trudeau about getting rid of it in their respective ridings for fear of losing the election.
