Thankfully there is a third option, I look forward to Prime Minister Tom Mulcair actually standing up for Canadian interests at the G8 and meeting the POTUS.
On that yes, I can see Munclair being able to sit at the table.
Why I can't vote for him covers several other issues.
The universal daycare. I disagree with it on many levels. The cost in the billions. And quite simply I don't believe in it. At least some responsibility for raising children should be bourne by the time parents.
His more isolationist stance. Both on Trade agreements and in military intervention. We need as many trade agreements as possible to open markets up. His union base wouldn't allow for it. And anyone who thinks we shouldn't be actively pursuing military operations against ISIL and their ilk is sticking their head in the sand. These are truly dangerous people and are growing. They need to be destroyed by any means necessary.
There is also the Sherbrooke Declaration and his waffling on the Clarity act. The separatists will be emboldened by having someone soft on the subject. I think he will be weak on the issue despite he protestations of how hard he fought. His base will be in Quebec. He will have to be too careful to appease them.
I still question the base and the pressure he will be under. He may want one thing but will he have the stones to keep the extreme end of it in line?
I just don't know. But if it's a choice between incompetence(Junior) and perhaps Munclair I guess my preference if Harper doesn't get in is the latter.
You've been counting out the PM. I wouldn't. He has a solid base in the prairies and Ontario. At minimum he will take 150 seats. And don't be surprised if it's more.
