Blacks benefit from affirmative action and artificially inflated SAT scores.

There is even a separate admissions process at some Canadian universities specifically for blacks. Presumably so they don't have to compete against whites, Chinese and E.I.'s for university entrance.

BTW: I think blacks do much better in western democracies than they do in Asian, Muslim and black majority countries.
Pretty sure you were called in this in another thread and still haven't given any evidence for it.

Funny how statista.com doesn't have a chart of violent crime convictions by race. I imagine it would correlate pretty well with the breakdown of people shot to death by police.
There are plenty of studies that show on average, black people are more likely than whites to be arrested for the same crimes and that show that black people on average get longer jail sentences for the same convictions.

General human nature is to desire comfort and people who have benefited from being in the majority are often afraid that disadvantaged people getting rights will somehow hurt them. It's a pretty simple concept. CNN recently had an article about how often conflict arises within even democratic communities when things like bussing or changing demographics of the community. In this part of the world, whites are the majority and in many circumstances have power and opportunity that others don't. It might be more accurate to use "fragility of the power holders" but being a country where that means white people, the term "white fragility' is accurate and is shown over and over again when people like you and many other on this board get triggered by other races.

Then there are the hard-core racists; the ones who believe other races are inferior and don't deserve rights (and there are a number of those on this board too).

I patiently await your thoughtful response.

I suggest the sheep flocking to support BLM learn the lesson of WE. Fully investigate who are the BLM founders and operators. They could be corrupt like the two WE brothers and using BLM as a vehicle for personal gain.

I'm sorry I'm not sure I understand the point. Certainly, almost all Americans desire equal opportunity for all Americans. Things do get contentious when the Black community and their supporters desire more favoritism to redress historic racism. This Black favoritism is all around us in our every day lives. Hiring, admissions, govt. programs targeting black communities and even large businesses having minority business vendor programs.

I'm not making an argument against these programs. I am pointing out that they exist and supporters of the programs want them to expand.

Things I've been hearing in this world since I opened my first bank account and got my first job:

  • The banks could say: “It’s too bad that you have a down payment now and still can’t buy property, after all these years, but it’s not our fault.The neighborhoods where you live are bad credit risks. We’re not racist. It’s a business decision.”
  • The government could say: “It’s too bad so few Black vets can take advantage of the GI Bill, but colleges are private institutions. If they won’t accept you, it’s not our fault. We’re not racist. It’s a matter of limited government.”
  • Then white people could say: “It’s too bad Black people are so poor, but why don’t they do what I did: get an education, get a good job, buy a house and start accumulating some wealth of their own? What’s wrong with them?”
If there is one thing that white people are good at, its fearing that they'll lose their fake sense of privilege and comfort. It only exists inside their own heads, not in the real world.

Dr. King was absolutely correct when he said the "content of your character" is the aim to excellence, not "the color of your skin".

There sure is a LOT of lack of "content of character" on this board.

This is not an argument that I think holds up. The U.S. began deindustrializing in the 1960s. This has put tremendous strain on the lower quartile of society. African-Americans had been pushed down for so long. By the time industrial unions became more inclusive, their membership rolls were shrinking. The most senior guys (white) kept their jobs. There were many job losses and far less hiring over the subsequent decades.

By favouritism you mean not getting killed by cops or given far longer sentences for similar crimes? That is the basis of the current BLM protests.

As for fragility, I'm talking about the knee-jerk reaction that many here have when minorities are being discussed.

In the USA in 2019 the number of police shooting which resulted in death were 3.1 deaths/100,000 USA population.
A total of 1004 police shooting deaths with the African American's accounting for 235 of them which represents over 23% of the total. That number is disproportionate to the African American population VS the total population in the USA.
In the USA African American's represent only slightly over 13% of the population VS over 76% being represented by Caucasians.
So meanwhile they only account for 13% of the population they account for more than 23% of the fatalities related to police shootings. Adjusted for population an African American in the USA is more than 3.8X more likely to get shot to death by the police than a Caucasian person.

Agree. Anybody who has even a basic knowledge of other races/cultures/religions know that no group is perfect.

For example, black slavery existed in darkest Africa long before the arrival of the white man.
so you're saying that US slavery by it's founding fathers isn't really a big deal because there has been slavery everywhere all the time? That's like saying I can murder some guy on the street because there has been killing everywhere all the time... I don't see where this argument is going.

You must be careful though, because 80% of who we are is subconscious. We inherit much of this subconscious through experience, and through things we saw on tv or movies as a kid etc. etc. Our culture can make us racist without us even realizing it - and can influence our decisions and behaviors in subtle ways that we don't normally notice.

The Mongols actually conquered much of the lands that Muslims conquered and Alexander the Great earlier conquered. The Mongols and Alex left but the Muslims are still there on lands they conquered with the sword and forced the indigenous people to convert to Islam or be killed.
