Georgia man body slammed by deputy

US cops are disgusting.

The dude suffered a left clavicle fracture and currently has pins in his shoulder that will be with him for the rest of his life, his right hand and skull were also fractured. He ruptured an eardrum, suffered a concussion, and was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury.

I think the narrator of this video is out to lunch. We don't always have to surrender our "papers", we have basically the same rights as provided by the US Constitution. In Ontario at least, you do have to surrender driver's license etc if you are driving a car, however in this video it appears as though he is parked on private property, I don't think the cops can enforce documentation laws on private property.

Not in Canada cupcake...
I thought the posted rule was that political threads in the lounge would be deleted vs. relocated. Are some people just that special?

He is in the driver seat. Private property doesn’t matter. Plazas are private property and they can still demand papers

may have been the owner or tennant of the private property that called as they may have feared employee or customer safety. The officer did point out that he was being suspicious in filming people coming in and out. I for one would not want to be filmed coming out of a Specialist office or a rehab clinic.

The old days have not gone, the brain dead driver is lucky those weren't Peel Region cops.

His conduct reminds of an old creepy classic: The silicon chip inside his head is switched to overload.

Are you sure about that? I'm not an expert but I was told that the reason that you can 'teach' your kid to drive in a parking lot is that police can't ticket you on private property. Same reason you don't get a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign in a parking lot.

At least the stop sign I can pretty much prove, at least with anecdotal evidence. Had a cop behind me this morning in a parking lot after getting a Tim's. As there was nobody else approaching, I just drove right through the stop sign that was in the lot. Pretty sure the cop did the same thing and we both went our separate ways when we hit the actual road.

But you can’t be drinking in your car in the Tim’s parking lot.

I don’t know but I believe they can still ask you for your ID if on private property. But I don’t know for fact.

Same issue. I don't think it matters what private property you are on. If you are sitting in your car in your driveway you can be drinking. It's only if you try to drive out into the road that you are screwed. So, a Tim's parking lot should be fine. Of course, in a Tim's parking lot they will probably just wait for you to leave as it is doubtful that you are going to jump on a bus if you have your car there, lol.

I'm not sure if there are special rules regarding identifying while in a vehicle vs. as a pedestrian. But, I do know that you are not obligated to identify yourself to any police in Canada unless they are RCMP. Of course they, the police, circumvent that little rule by saying they are detaining you for an investigation, which I believe allows them to force you to identify yourself.

Not a lawyer, but my understanding that if you are in a motor vehicle, the police can ask for your license, registration and insurance at any time. We have different protections from the police in Canada. But, again, I admit that I might be wrong.

Like they say….Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. What did he hope to accomplish? Show your license and explain what you are doing in a rational manner and go about your business.

If you are in “care and control” of a car, you cannot be drunk/ drinking. Full stop. Doesn’t matter where you are.

In Ontario, HTA offences may not apply on private property, but criminal code offences apply everywhere.
