Omg lol yes you could drink and drive in the 80's!! I was too young but the very striking drunk and drive publicity started in the 90's.

The Dagobert was my go to as well with my fake ID (basically just putting our Health card in the oven and change the numbers with a knife and liquid paper). Galvaude and too much alcohol. I miss the good time on Grande Allée.
This movie was exactly how I grew up.... Very funny movie, he made also1981 and 1991

Maroon 1991 Plymouth Sundance.

This peace of shit died 1 month after I bought it. Radiator fluid flooded the engine when I was on HWY 401. 😭

That was my exact car except it didn't have that extra venting on the hood. 1970.

I think that it was between $5-6K. The dealer in Richmond Hill also threw in a 50 pound bag of potatoes. No kidding.

I had my first car at 16yrs old. My grand father gave it to me when he passed away.

It was a Plymouth Acclaim 1994 with less than 30k km when he gave it to me. He died in 2002 lol. This car, since she was almost never driven litteraly broke in my hand. Radiator, battery, alternator, name it lol.

This car was litteraly my hell on Earth. I spent so much student money on this piece of metal.

Bought it in 1970 so probably a few years old then. Austin 1800. same color. POS. Got it after living in Calgary for 1800.jpg a year . Bought it in late August. It was sort of a step up in my tiny mind.
As soon as the first frost hit. Wouldn't start. Every morning. Forget about 40 below. The gear box froze. An English mechanic told me. "get rid of it son".
I remember Jay Leno cracking jokes about English cars. "Electrical problems you say? Gee. Never heard of that in an English car"

What I wanted was this 1959 Corvette for sale in 1966 for $1,250.

What I got was a 1965 Ford Mustang that cost $1650 in 1966. It was a less beautiful but more practical car. I had my first minor fender bender in blizzard conditions on a date with a hot majorette from another high school. I should have cancelled out due to weather conditions but as a teenager I still knew everything. The corvette would have been by far the better investment but it needed work and it is doubtful it would have survived the high school and college years. My father Prez senior was a generous but practical man.

The '59 Vette was my dream car from ages 14 to 17, but no way Dad was gonna trust me in it, so he bought me the '63 Pontiac I posted above.

I still cream whenever I see an original '59 though, especially in red/white.

I never got a driver's license. I have poor night vision, and it's useless to own a car if you can't drive at night. I am, however, a great front seat navigator, I'd always let the driver know when the correct exit was about one minute away, in case he needed to change speeds or lanes. I'm not big on travelling, and I live downtown so I could never justify the expense.
