What precautions do you take when booking/hobbying.

Hi folks, so I'll start hobbying, I just wanted to know some precautions you folks take when hobbying.

Other than the obvious > be a gentleman, always wear protection...I wanted to know if you guys use any specific applications to stay anonymous? Use a prepaid SIM et cetera.

Simply follow the booking guidelines for agencies/independents.
On their respective pages, there is usually a booking form or some kind of FAQ.

Text messages or emails. I have a second phone number that I only use for this hobby.

I use a burner phone, and never reveal anything about my real identity to a stranger in the hobby. That includes real name, main phone number, address, place of employment, etc. Once I know a gal, I may reveal certain things about my personal life in the natural course of discussion, but not something that leaves me vulnerable.

I also operate on a cash only basis, which means those that require a deposit are no-go for me.

Try to keep your identity concealed as best you can. So when booking use an Alias. If this is your first time hobbying try to go with a reputable agency or independent. Only take whay you need into the room. Only give out information that you are comfortable giving. Dont feel obliged to give out any info thats too personal for you no matter how badly you want to see the lady. Try to think as much with your big head rather your little head when booking and you will be fine.

Thanks. What's the phone app you are referring to? I do have a phone to use as a burner but I do not have a car to place it elsewhere, though I could put a lock on a small bag.

If the area is seedy or questionable, avoid it.
It is not worth your safety if it is.

I only go to reputable hotels or condos in decent areas, so less worried about my being spotted exiting my car. For a condo, I'll search Google Maps for nearby public parking, like a Green P. For hotels, there is usually guest parking. I ask about the parking situation with the booker, then go from there. I always plan to arrive 15-30 minutes early so I can adapt to any unforeseen issues, like parking availability. Sometimes a parking lot is full, or not close, or there isn't any street parking.

I do not mind using my credit card for parking, as I am divorced and nobody sees my credit card statement but me. I often pay parking for non-hobby reasons as well, so parking fees on my statement are not a problem.

Almost all my bookings nowadays are with agencies, as an extremely high percentage of indys want deposits of some type, a reference and or ID/LinkedIn and I will not do that. I put anyone on ignore that wants these things, as I will never book with them as there business policies are incompatible with mine. This way I do not see their ads.

I think the answer to this question is twofold depending on whether you're booking with an agency or an indie and whether you're single or attached. Nowadays I book with agencies exclusively and I'm not really worried about anything. I use my real number/phone and bring it with me to appointments. I provided one agency with my ID because they screen people. I was hesitant to do it but really wanted to see a girl there so I bit the bullet. All is well, but keep in mind I'm single.

Booking with an indie is a whole other beast and I think most/all of the advice given above in this thread applies, especially at the beginning of your hobbying career and/or you're married/attached. I've been to some shady neighborhoods in my time and looking back I've been fortunate to avoid any disasters but I would definitely do things differently now. More than a decade later I wouldn't be caught dead in some of the neighborhoods and motels I frequented when I started to hobby.

If you're booking with an indie you need to trust your instincts and go with your gut feeling, if something is off or feels off, abort. Better safe than sorry!
