I use Textnow. It works well.
Some providers have a rule about no text apps. But I find that if you offer to send a quick text from your real number to connect it to your text app number, most providers are OK with it.

When doing your research on who to see, rub one out and get some post nut clarity so your decision making is much more sound (and not driven by your little head).
Browsing while horny usually means anything and everything looks good, and tends to lower your standards or lower your guard versus scammers or the unscrupulous or the "too good to be true" ads.
Note that the above applies best if you're leaving a couple of days or even weeks in between making your decision and the day of your date (personal experience and preference). I personally don't like doing same day dates anymore where I research a lady the day of the date (at the most, I'll look at agencies and ads over a period of time beforehand, and keep a list of prospective ladies; and if my day is free and a lady is available same day, at least I did my homework ahead of time).

Only real precaution I take is to hobby in CA but never the US. Hasn't been working out especially well of late...
Some/many SP's insists on you using their condoms. They don't want to take the risk that your condoms have been tampered with and/or made in a low quality Russian factory..
True. When i first started hobbying i used to bring my own condoms but the ladies wouldnt allow me to use them so i stopped bringing them to sessions and have had no issues. The only problem i find is that sometimes if the lady doesnt have an assortment of condoms she may not have the proper fit for you.
They do know. I don’t know how, but they do.
I don’t say that like I’m trying to be shady. But I’ve had a few text back saying they don’t book text apps, so text with my real number.
Yeah that's my worry, I'm pretty below average in that, so what they have might not fit me, still better to have I guess.
