salsamarc,

I guess more then one player must have called Zidane a terrorist as he has head butted players before.

Speculations in european papers range from "muslim terrorist" to calling his sister a whore (from brazilian experts in lip reading!) to making fun of his mothers serious illness.

That is hardly sporting behaviour from the italien defender. I would guess that this had been going on for almost 2 hours. Even without taunting, the frustration of being closely shadowed (marked) by a defender for two hour is enough to make anybody go crazy.

Materazzi has denied calling Zidane a dirty terrorist, saying that he is "ignorant" and doesn't even know what a terrorist is.

Materazzi is still the biggest douche bag of all time

and if Nesta doesnt get hurt, maybe Italy doesnt win...although Materazzi committed the foul and scored the tying goal so maybe it evens out

Definition of Douchebag: ... In the US English sense, it is similar to an enema ...

I wonder if Materazzi understands that word or is he still "ignorant."

If Matterrazzi said what they claim he had said. I agree to have him suspended from International play, for whatever duration is fitting.

Still that could have happened without a headbut. So the red card was appropriate. If Rooney can get ejected for pushing Ronaldo, then Zidane should get one for head butting.

Life just isn't fair.

Doesn't change the fact they are still WC champions. Let's move on.

If what zinedine did surprised you then you must have never seen him play before, (not the first assult) and the slant by Marco of his heritage is BS. Completely false allegation, not to be entertained at all.
he allegedly actually called him a dirty terrorist

I dont know why anyone would be surprised by what Materazzi. Italian players have a long history of being filth. Not only the players but the Italians fans or should I say the fans of Italians clubs. They send bigotry and nastiness to new heights. Their only rivals are those in spain who are mostly against blacks. In Italy its mainly antiblack and anti-semitic slurs that are commonplace.

are pretty well diversified amongst all nations around the world....as well as the makeup of the individual teams.

Why don't you just call Canadians rascists too?

There are rascists everywhere...I hope you're somehow not implying that English fans and players are not rascist....that American fans/players are not rascist....South American, German etc etc....NEWS FLASH ....its everywhere!

See the irony? No? Well occupy yourself with this. You'll do less harm.

Kathleen you should watch the Sopranos. They can be intolerant and rarely marry outside their race.

if Materazzi indeed called him a dirty terrorist or whatever, though I dont think we will ever know as it's Zidane's word against Materazzi's, then Materazzi should get a severe ban from international competition. Sepp Blatter wants to rid the game of racism but what has he done, someobdy needs to be an example and that example is Materazzi. Unfortunately though, Materazzi's international days are probably over anyhow, he'll be 35 come Euro 2008 and I highly doubt he'd be on the team, because Paolo Maldini he is not...
