Wait a minute so she already has your $180.00 is refusing to ride you, is threatening to kick your ass out of her place if you don't come with the rest and no money refunded???????

would you try and ride her again? :D

think people think - before you come with your anologies, lol
Well, this is a GREAT analogy, with one difference from what was written. It should have been "you are 20 bucks short so she DOESN'T service you". Which would be the case in 99 times out of a hundred....I will also bet that if you handed the SP the money, and was short, so the service was cancelled, she'd take the driver fee and a cancellation fee out of the envelope before handing it back.

In fact, this is a very EXCELLANT analogy...

Oh yeah, nice to see you back Fab, we missed you! I'm not done with you, you are as entertaining as 2 monkey's trying to fuck a football.....

You're making assumptions about people you don't know and have likely never met
Wrong, you made an assumption right there. Don't assume when you're accusing someone of assuming. ;)
A friend from college is a TTC worker. His goal was to be a full time employee after doing one summer there. His exact words "I don't do fuck all. I clean up, park the buses and clean them. It's easy money."
I DO know.

I don't claim to know them all. I claim they are lazy due to their actions.
Be as condescending as you like. Are you involved in a union?

Anyway, I 'll let you go. Gotta get back to the reviews. That is why we are here.

That is partly the reason we are here. Another reason is to debate and argue. A sane and level headed debate is fine. I sometimes get too emotional in my debating. This was one of the those cases because my gf was left with blistered feet and heat exhaustion. Her employer would not have fired her as I just found out. However, her feeling of responsibility to show up to work led her to believe she would be fired.

Revolver, I may not konw the ins and outs of a union but that's fine by me. I would never join a union. They are filled with lazy people. Not all, but many. It's a job protection racket. You can't find a job at a heavily unionized place unless you join the union. Seems a bit unfair, no?

I'll just stop by saying the obvious. I hate unions.

It has nothing to do with us wanting to enforce the bylaws. It has everything to do with people who whine about rules that have been in place for years. Students know that if they dont' have their ID card, then the fare will be as what other people pay. It's her fault that she forgot her student ID, not the drivers. While it may have been "nice" of the driver to just let it slide, in no way is he obligated to do so. Nor is he a monster, jerk off, asshole or anything derogatory for doing his job. In retrospect, the girl was totally at fault. While I can understand a parents frustrations over the ordeal, might I suggest you teach your children the importance of following rules and the responsibility to produce proper documentation when needed. I.E. Carry the damn student card.

Red, it's absolutely absurd what you are saying. Anyone who reads this can say that. You know the rules are there but you suggest that people should just shrug it off and let it slide. Where would we be as a civilized society if every rule was tossed aside at the discretion of a single individual? Chaos.

Let me use an analogy. A sp you like and have seen for a long time charges 200/hr but for some reason she let it slide when you were short 20 bucks. So next time you go see another sp you forget the price again and are short 20 bucks. She doesn't like that and demands the rest of the money or your appointment is cancelled. Is she a bitch or just doing her job and demanding what she deserves? Is she being beurocratic?

The REAL point of the student reduced fare is so students get a break. In order to get that break, you MUST provide valid ID that states you are currently a student. Without the ID process in place, what is stopping street kids or people who look young from taking advantage of a cash strapped transit system? There isn't. You're obviously going to argue until you're red in the face. LOL So this is becoming a moot point.

Cheers.
I am neither red in the face, though I feel like I am carrying a rucksack uphill. We obviously won't agree which is fine. I never said the driver was an asshole, or should be beaten or anything of that nature. All I said was, that the student in question is a real student with a student card and had in fact paid the correct fare. Since the girl was with other students, and since we are almost through the entire school year and its likely the driver has seen her before, I think it would not have taken much effort to think that hey she might be a student. I favour the practical solution over the legalistic one everytime. Again- yes the regulation says you must show it every time. There are lots of regulations, but I suppose you never jay walk, or speed or park without paying the meter and you return your library books on time, you follow all the recycling rules, you file your census form on time, etc.. Personally, I don't worry about the regulations as much as the substance behind them. on this- obviously we will continue to disagree. BTW your paying an sp example is not analogous, since I don't know any that offer senior discounts.

I lift my glass sir- cheers.

Now it's GO Transit that's a mess

Don't know how many of us have been standing on a GO Triain platform the past few days. It sounds like showing up for work is optional for the GO Train operators.

I like this 1:
"The TTC is constantly preaching to 'TAKE THE BETTER WAY, well hopefully I will be soon by purchasing a car.

“The service is horrible to begin with and its like every time they don't get their own way they strike. Ninety percent or more working people have no pension or union support.

"The TTC and a few others have it made but they are like a spoiled child and expect to be treated al ot better than any other working person. To me they should fire the whole bunch of them just like Reagan did with the air traffic controllers and hire all new.

"There are a lot of people who would love that job"

and this

Personally, I am sick and tired of the ads that declare how the TTC stands behind their drivers. They say that if any passenger physically or verbally assaults a driver, we the public should call the police immediately. Well, perhaps these drivers should speak to passengers with some respect.

“I have been on buses where drivers yell at passengers if they don't get on the bus quick enough, bark at passengers who ask for directions and yes, if the passenger doesn't pay the correct fare, the driver speaks in such a loud voice that the entire bus can hear…

”In a nutshell, drivers, quit your moaning and be grateful for what you have! Life sucks at times but we just have to get on with it.”

I will call my dad and see if he is going on strike, I personally can't complain about the whole TTC thing since my dad has been workign for them for 20 years. so whatever he does I pretty much have to stick with it, from the horror stories my dad use to tell me coming home from work, or calling us saying he is in the hospital for someone on the streetcar doing something to him they do need more protection.

They deal with the public everyday and not everyday the public is nice,

Most of the GO train drivers are CN employees.

It's a lot easier to drive a GO Train than a freight train, though you have some pretty crappy hours.

Those drivers are paid roughly $70,000/year. Not bad money but I wouldn't call them overpaid. Now upper management of corporations are overpaid.
