VAnessa..your actions would be another escalation.....

YEs the guy was a jerk...

But like he yelled at Molly...and we call it rude...

You turning and punching him would also be over the top and would be met with condemnation!!

Since you were at a Shopper's Drug Mart the only reasonable thing I can think of is that he was in desperate need of drugs. Lot's of unreasonable explanations though. I'm surprised no one said anything to the guy when he was going off on you. Either you were taking an exorbinate amount of time looking for you card and everybody thought you were holding things up, or you were unlucky enough to find yourself surrounded by cowards.

Just out of curiosity, how did you respond to the guy when you realized he was talking to you?

It is not rude to talk or text on your mobile phone in the checkout line or in most other public places. It is only rude to talk on your phone in a place where the noise from your conversation creates a disturbance for others, like a theatre or classroom or any kind of church service, at the dinner table, etc.

In the checkout line if you're on your phone and you need to do something all you have to do to remain polite to everyone is say "Hang on a minute" to the person on your phone, and take care of whatever needs doing. That's good enough.

The OP has clarified that she would not have delayed those behind her except for the delay CREATED BY THE CONFRONTATION ITSELF, which is the fault of the freak who yelled at her.

Those who are critical of people who talk on the phone in public please get over yourselves, you living anachronisms. It's 2011 for christ's sake! People use mobile phones now!!!!

This whole scenario sounds like something you'd see on that TV show "What would you do?". It plays on ABC and is really interesting. Its all about how people react in situations. All of the events are set up by the show with actors in a public environment. If you havn't seen it you should check it out.

I bet the guy who yelled would never in a million years guess that there would be an 8 page discussion about his actions on Terb. =p

Way too many thread hijackers in here!!

WE are talking about an interaction in a grocery lineup.

Molly - who allegedly held a guy up by being slow and answering her phone in the line- up.

Rage Guy - WHo yelled bad things at her for doing so...

The comments should be restricted to the interaction and actions of these two people.

All other comments and infighting between posters should be restrained!!
This is the same guy who brought rape into the discussion 10-20 posts ago, right?

Molly - the guy is an idiot, I don't know you, but you actually seem like quite a lady (outside of the bedroom that is). Don't fret over this; always remember that these type of guys will get their just desserts in the end - One of these days this guy is going to be screaming at a woman in a lineup and her 300lb biker boyfriend is going to walk up behind him and tap him on the shoulder- then he'll see tough he really is. Karma is a bitch.

Sleep well knowing that you bring alot of pleasure to people.

Ok, now you are making sense. I thought the reason she was holding up the line was because she purchased 3400 condoms.

There are so many angry, disturbed people walking around with chips on their shoulder, it's only a matter of time until you step in front of their sights. Guy was waiting to go off, you were unfortunate to be in the way, but you did nothing wrong. Were you managing the drug store? Did you instruct them to only put on one cashier when it was so busy?

Day to day delays, inconveniences and frustrations are something we all have to deal with. That guy had much bigger issues than anything you presented him with.
What kind of well adjusted dude screams and fumes at and intimidates a woman to the point where she fears for her safety? Again, you did nothing wrong. Let it go.
One of these days he'll blow up at the wrong person.

lol, and yes red does make sense. I would hope any lady who feels threaten and has a phone in their hands to call 911 for help, that alone should scare off the idiot. I'm still surprised no one in the store challenged the idiot, not even staff, makes no sense of all the people in the store that no one would help her.

I'm not gonna read 8 pages so sorry if its been mentioned, but why not complain to the manager??

Then if you really wanna get even you send in 3 or 4 friends at spaced out later dates and have them complain about the same employee. He'll have like 5 different complaints in a month or so........hehe :p

Yeah I know, I'm evil
