Just trying to stock a Restaurant with some good tea.

To be honest, I'm not a tea guy and I need some advice from you guys.

Everybody seems to be pushing Bigelo and Red Rose.

What brand of tea is your favourite?

Please Help.

Darjeeling if left to steep too long does get a little bitter. Not a big fan of Tetley and Red Rose. I like PG Tips alot too... I usually drink Lipton at home. Remember, tea taste the best when it is steeped in boiled fresh cold water. Never use water boiled more than once and if you like your tea less tanic, try boiling bottled water.

Sadaf

I live around Yonge & Finch and often shop at those Persian stores there. I bought this tea brand called "Sadaf" from them which is excellent tea. They only carry two types though which comes in Red or Green boxes. Both taste very good. If you want more varity, I personally prefer Twining over Bigelow.

Where is your resturant? BTW, good luck in your new business.

I once had a cup of rare Oolong tea at (of all places) a Chinese owned greasy spoon near Spadina & Dupont. Apparently very expensive because this particular brand of Oolong can only be found in a particular region in China and is picked over a short period once a year. Very nice tea.

WTF? Why am I wasting my time answering questions about tea on TERB? Wasn't I here for some other reason? Oh yeah, I wanted to get laid.

I don't like tea, but I like tetley's herbal teas. Only tetley though, they seem to be the cleanest tasting IMO.
so this is why you never brought me my Earl Grey after we were done? I used to like my sweet vanilla adabest.

Mmmmmmm - tea

Tetley - imported from the UK (more of a blend than the straight Orange Pekoe available here), for you everyday stuff.

Twinnings if you want to offer a selection.

Most types of Twinings are good. One exception is Darjeeling which is a tad bitter (at least when I last had it).
Twinings is my preference.

I'm sure you know this already, for green tea fans, try Green tea with roasted rice (type Sushi eatery serves) Uji No Tsuyu - Gemmai-Cha brown cover.

Price Club has the wooden tea box stock with variety of tea. Usually stock as Xmas present. Good for presentation to customer, imo.

Aside, cheaper alternative, noticed on my supermarket tour that Lipton is trying to get into Herbal tea market big time. Haven't sample.

Good luck. Any MPA or MP client discount?

Thanx guys. TERB really is more than just a review board. It's such a great resource of information and opinions.

It seems like Tetley for Orange Pekoe and Twinings for variety is the way to go.

I'd love to give out a TERB discount to all of you guys but the restaurant does not belong to me but to a close friend of mine. (he is not a TERB member because he only sees Candy at Studio9 once in a while so he isn't a very good source of reviews)

The place serves great Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches. I'll ask him about starting a TERB member/MPA/MP discount and post his answer later. He probably will.

Thanks again for all the great advice.

Metropolitan Tea....

(aka... The Metropolitan Tea Company Ltd...)

The tea comes in a little wooden box (string and tag tea bags)....Great tasting tea and it comes in a wide range of flavours!! :)

You can buy them at "Say Tea" (obviously specializes in Tea) in the Bloor West Village. On Bloor between Jane and Windermere....

Growing up in New York, the Chinese restaurants always seemed to serve Sweet-Touch-Nee.
