Yes we got the point already that it's based on citizenship status. Does that make it ok to have a workforce that has no rights? Because it wasn't based on race that's ok?South Africa had an official policy based on race. At most you could argue that the US doesn't adequately enforce it's immigration policies and what is under discussion has to do purely with citizenship status, not race.
So we should feel all warm and fuzzy beacuse illegal immigrants are being taken advantage of but have it better than where they were previously? I thought we were talking about the entire system.Excuse me. That was the topic I assumed was under discussion here.
Yes you basically responded by justifying it.They wouldn't do it if they didn't think benefited them.
And yes, the entire system has issues but I was responding to fuji's claims on the US and it's use of illegal immigrants.
I'm beginning to think you're a trickle down kind of guy. Funny how people on this board reveal themselves after awhile. They wouldn't do it if they didn't think benefited them.

Bluntly yes!Does that make it ok to have a workforce that has no rights? Because it wasn't based on race that's ok?
Yet they have been allowed it come stay and contribute, even pay taxes, for how many years now and then you expect to dump on them.Bluntly yes!
That they "have no rights" is because they have no right to be in the U.S.A.
I love the double standard here, is anyone who is a single nationality Canadian TERBite going to volunteer to ask for an apointment with their M.P. the P.M. and/or the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and the Minister of Labour, so that they can argue that single nationality American members of TERB should be illegally able to come to Canada, get a job, not be deported etc. . . what about someone from Chile instead?
One of the hardest parts about working with anyone who would like to have a perment right of residence but does not qualify is that most of them have stories that pull at the heart strings. However, one just cant have an open door policy, certainly Canada doesn't have one.
Let's pause and take note that you just explicitly stated tout agree with and support apartheid.Bluntly yes!
Except you've institutionalized illegal workers so it's a national policy to create an American population with two classes: those with status who have rights, and those without status who don't.That they "have no rights" is because they have no right to be in the U.S.A.
People with valid work visas are able to access the protection of courts, labour boards, police, etc., and have a path to citizenship if they want it.I love the double standard here, is anyone who is a single nationality Canadian TERBite going to volunteer to ask for an apointment with their M.P. the P.M. and/or the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and the Minister of Labour, so that they can argue that single nationality American members of TERB should be illegally able to come to Canada, get a job, not be deported etc. . . what about someone from Chile instead?
Fuji, I really hate to say it, but you act like a jackass!Let's pause and take note that you just explicitly stated tout agree with and support apartheid
It is no more official U.S. Policy than it is Canadian official policy that everyone swim once in their life in the Beaufort Sea.Except you've institutionalized illegal workers so it's a national policy to create an American population with two classes
Of course I and hundreds of millions of others can argue that. You can't argue that these people should not be in the US when you're economy integrally depends on them being there.

It is interesting how a poem written about one thing, can come to symbolize something else.So much for;
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
Even better.. solve the illegal immigrant problem. Everyone knows how: 5 years in the slammer for employing an illegal immigrant, and a free green card for any illegal who turns in his employer--upon conviction of the employer. The problem would disappear overnight. You could even make it fair to the existing employers and workers by granting a 5 year work visa to any illegal currently in the country who doesn't otherwise have a criminal record. With 11M illegal immigrants and 6M felons that should not be voting I would say there is good cause to implment some sort of verification system... look at the Senator from Acorn er Minnesota....

Actually what you see is the political class hispandering to the latin population because they need the votes.Even better.. solve the illegal immigrant problem. Of course, a policy like that would actually eliminate illegal immigrants, they would all go home, there would be none left--which is not what anyone wants. What the United States, collectively, ACTUALLY wants, is to have even more illegal immigrants in the country working for even lower wages in even less safe conditions. That sort of apartheid arrangement benefits the voting citizens. Criminalizing the illegals, etc., makes it harder for them to turn to the police and the courts when they are abused and eliminates any possibility of a labour strike or other disruptive behavior.
The current policies are not designed to end illegal immigration, but rather to institutionalize the exploitation of illegal immigrants.
It is very clear what you should do if you ACTUALLY wanted to get rid of them. Just... you might find you have to pay more for green beans at the supermarket if you do, construction costs will go up, and a lot of people will no longer be able to afford that private nanny or gardener.
Last I checked, Canada doesn't even allow legal landed immigrants a vote even if they have been living here for a considerable time. Nor are migrant labour (who we do have an OFFICIAL policy to bring in) given any franchise despite many having spent the equivalent of a decade or more in Canada. If it was anyone but fuji (well maybe danmand or woody) I would be confused why someone is spending so much energy on criticizing a foreign country when their own country does very similar things. With 11M illegal immigrants and 6M felons that should not be voting I would say there is good cause to implment some sort of verification system... look at the Senator from Acorn er Minnesota....

Canada doesn't have an institutionalized illegal workforce, period. We do not do the same thing at all.Last I checked, Canada doesn't even allow legal landed immigrants a vote even if they have been living here for a considerable time. I think that Fuji is proposing a sort of Kristallnacht lite for swarthy people who speak Spanish and those who would employ them.Actually what you see is the political class hispandering to the latin population because they need the votes.
