US Poll: If 2 States Fail Americans Favor 1 Democratic State - Not Jewish State

In a poll conducted for Foreign a Policy Magazine, the majority of Americans favor a state based on equality for all of citizens of Israel and not a Jewish state if the 2 state plan fails. According to the poll, 65% of Americans would favor a democratic star for all over a Jewish state while only 24% would favor a Jewish state over a democratic state

Sounds like Zionists had better start coming up with realistic peace proposals for a change.

America Has a Plan. And, No, It Isn’t One That Israel Would Like.

"So what does it all mean? It means that if the two-state solution fails, the conversation among the American public might shift to that of a one-state solution as the next-best thing. If American officials feel pressured to respond to this, it will likely create tension in U.S.-Israeli relations….

For U.S. officials, the effect would be paralyzing — American leaders simply wouldn’t know what to advocate if two states were not on the table. …

This dilemma may partially be driving Washington’s current diplomatic push. And if the Obama administration’s efforts fail, it is unlikely that American leaders would do anything but pretend that the two-state solution was still on the table. No American politician wants to choose between Israel’s democracy and its Jewishness — even if the polls show that the choice is clear to the American people.

Pretending neatly rationalizes paralysis, but it would not hide the naked truth for most people….The American people are clear about their views: Occupation and unequal citizenship are a losing cause."

Israel is failing to realize that people are tired and irritated by their endless intrasiance on the WB

Yet the poll said that the first choice by a large margin is the 2 State solution. Nice try, nothing like pushing plan B. That's what defeatist do.

Of course the Palestinians overwhelmingly oppose a one state solution so unless you think their opinion doesn't matter, it's a non-starter.

If the Palestinians turn down a reasonable offer, Israel will complete walling off the WB, unilaterally withdraw from the non settlement areas, and unilaterally declare a two state solution.

If the Palestinians respond to that with more cross border violence world opinion will turn against them very quickly.

A two state solution already exists at the UN. Israel doesn't need Palestinian consent to withdraw tob its side of the wall. The UN has already declared it.

Careful, you're off the party talking points here.....

If Israel tries that route they would have to abandon all control of borders, including the west bank and gaza or risk being recognized as running Bantustans in an apartheid state. If they control Palestinian borders and airspace, they will be still identified as the occupiers.

Is that what you want?

They would just close the border with Israel completely. What happens on the Egyptian border would be up to Egypt.

It will require upgrading the missile defense systems already partly in place. Israel would of course still respond to any attack on its territory, just as it responds to attacks from Lebanon or Syria, as act country would.

So let the record state that you support the creation of Bantustans.
All claims for democracy from your part should end with this claim.

Let the record show that when all else fails, go off the trail on something totally unrelated.

Fuji's plan for permanent Bantustans.
Palestine is not a self governing part of Israel. It is occupied by Israel. The occupation would simply end. There would remain a border dispute over a few square km's of land where the settlements are, but the WB and Gaza would cease being occupied land.

The Palestinian State has already got international recognition.

Even Olmerts map shows that the Palestinian state would have been 100% contiguous. Another groggy lie.
