Except the Russians occupied 30% of Ukraine in the first 2 weeks of the war and then the Ukrainians rolled the Russians back to 19% and then Russia managed to occupy another 1% of Ukraine in another 3 years of fighting and also lost 1M guys.

And the Ukrainians are the good guys.
they haven't lost 1m guys its about 100-150K. Its Ukraine that has lost about 1.5M. One of the key goals of the war announced by Russia is demilitarization of Ukraine, Thats whats happening. If Ukraine rejects the peace offer, then the goals will change to include Odessa, and 3 other oblasts.

I think there needs to be new regulations. Drones should not be allowed to travel more then a 2 km radius from their launch site. UNLESS the user is a commercial licensee and files a fight plan with NavCan. All drones should have software that prevents this. Maybe even 1km.
Because Terrorists are famously known for adhering to regulations. You can 3d print and open-source-control a drone right now. Not hard to relay control through other drones either.

Pandora's box is WAY open.

And it wouldn't matter anyway. The drone and the operator don't need to travel together. Send the operator in a month ago from the north, and the drones in now from the south, and you could launch the strike anyway.

you can lock down the control boxes people use to build drones as well, nothing is 100% foolproof, you can also build in all kinds of hidden precautions. Like if the firmware is altered, it bricks. And have hidden loops that will do things like keeping the drone in a specific altituide window if its more then x km from the base. It can also squawk codes if more then a greater distance from base. These can all be hidden and will allow early intervention. WIth state level actors, of course this won;t work.

More pretending-to-be-knowledgable bullshit.

Home made drones can be programmed from zero bits to do whatever the builder/programmer wants them do do. There is an entire universe of hobbyists that do all kinds of

Same with commercial drones. Firmware can be cracked easily.

"Squawking codes' means that drone makers will have to install Mode S transponders and ADS-B-Out avionics. Not some James Bond fantasy 'microchip'.

And just who is going to be monitoring these traceable drones? And with what equipment? And what kind of "early intervention" do you think, say Toronto Police, will take?

FFS, cops won't even go to a parking lot to pick up a stolen car with an AirTag in it!

From time to time you make such glaringly misinformed / delusional posts that it makes ALL your posts suspect from the first word. <SMH>

See? What delusional bullshit you post.

The numbers you post are reversed.

Russia, the ham-fisted meat wave aggressor who kill their own retreating soldiers, and rarely pick up their wounded, have suffered close to a million casualties. Even the best trained aggressor suffers losses at least 3-1.

Ukraine, who values the lives of their people and are, for-the-most-part, hunkered down in defensive positions picking off hapless Russian conscripts and conducting targeted, high value, hits.

As for "goals"changing. Russia has already said they want to conquer or destroy all of Ukraine. Odessa has been a high value objective for three years. Your fellow Russian ass-kisser @Addict2sex predicted the fall of Odessa and the collapse of the industrial world due to the resultant lack of helium stopping semi-conductor manufacturing. Said he'd "eat crow" if it didn't happen. I guess his mouth is too full of that special 'Russian Jizz' cocktail you guys suck back.:ROFLMAO:

And all that has happened in the area is that Russia has bombed civilian buildings and the Ukrainian navy (with no ships!) has chased the Russian Black Sea fleet out of Sevastapol AND the Black Sea.

Well those ships the Ukrainians haven't sunk. 😜

Both the U.S. and Russia would better from now on hide
their nuclear capable strategic bombers from satellite monitoring
by their rivals to avoid destruction of their nuclear weapons
by drones. Terrorist groups would only be able to inflict damages
on targets of low strategic value.
For someone who tries to pass themselves off as some sort of deep thinking global analyst... you sure are a simpleton.

First off, there are simply too many B-52's to begin to bomb enough to make any difference.

Second, B-1 Lancers and B-2 stealth bombers are indeed stored in hardened bunkers, immune from anything a drone can carry.

And finally..."
"to avoid destruction of their nuclear weapons by drones."

Do you really think the US or Russia for that matter, store their nuclear weapons outdoors? Or anywhere other than high security reinforced bunker/storage facilities?

Drones are definitely a game changer but don't confuse the simpleton brute, corrupt incompetence of Russia's military with the US Air Force.

I won't be surprised if Trumputin and JD Vankovich attack Zelenskyy again because of the successful mission.

Who knows what either of these Russian tools (literally) will do or say.'

One thing that everyone seem to ignore or discount is that Trump is obviously compromised by Putin in some way. I think Trump is trying to walk a very wobbly tightrope between keeping up some semblance of impartiality (at best) and outright supporting Russia's war against Ukraine and NATO.

The big picture is - drones becoming so cheap and effective, it will change a lot of defence thinking.
What if the Chinese or Russians inside the USA have set up groups to do similar and one day unleash an attack on Offut AFB where lots of bomber command exists? Or a terrorist group of some sort decide to attack the Capitol or some presidential speech out in public?

There are already regulations dealing with drones flying beyond the sight of the operator.

Drones are not permitted in controlled airspace and NavCanada can already not keep up with commercial Air Traffic Control.

Besides, since when have criminals and terrorists ever abided by the law?

Doesn't appear to have done much damage, it was shutdown for a while and reopened about 6 hours ago.
But then again it was inspected by Russian engineers.
Found this picture of the roadway on the bridge from todays explosion, a bit more damage but once it was removed they reopened the bridge, maybe it will fall later.

Drone use keeps evolving so quickly.
Fibre optical cables have been in use for a while now but this time Ukraine used open source drone software plus larger drones for communication.

The guys who wrote the software were surprised.
