Big difference here, the US had made it know they were trying to Bin Laden for years.
Bin Laden was the leader of a terrorist group, while this was an attack on the leader of an entire country.
This was the first strike directly on an Iranian high up the chain, essentially, this was an act of war.

As I said in another thread, Iran played Trump and turned widespread anti-Iran protests in Iraq and Iran into anti-American protests.

Soleimani is a pretty significant and valid target though.

He is now being described as the "killer of hundreds if not thousands of Americans". Well, when? 2005? 2007?

I didn't hear of "hundreds, if not thousands of Americans" getting killed in the Mideast last year or the year before.

He's now being described as a "genius" who was the only guy who could unite the disparate anti American factions in the Mideast. Really?!.... You mean he doesn't have assistants, 2-i-C's, subordinates who can step right in? He's an Iranian army officer, not a non governmental figurehead like OBL.

He was killed "just in time to avoid a major terror coup against the US". Really?... Like what?! And why now?!

His death "avoided a major war and didn't start one". Really?.... Like what war did it avoid?!

For a dude who no one knew a week ago, he was apparently the key dude in the entire mid east. Who knew?!.... I'm just glad that Trump killed him just in time to avoid the entire planet going to hell, like in a Star Wars movie.

I'd like to see some transparency to the admin's claims about all of the above because I'm getting a big case of "WMD Deja Vu" here.

Him and his group were behind the creation of Hezbollah and the bombing of the US embassy there. He was also the man behind every non-government militia/terror group that Iran backs. that means that many of the bombings of Sunnis in Iraq can be traced back to this guy as well as many attacks on Americans in Iraq. He likely had little to do with the day to day decision making but he was the one supplying money and training as well as suggesting targets.

As I said before, Trump got played and the Mullahs suddenly changed the target of local anger from Iran to the US but that doesn't mean the guy wasn't a bad guy or legitimate target.
