Not just China, Trump has said he was going to impose tariffs on Canada, Mexico, European countries because they take advantage of US. So expect retaliation, and these will friendly nations will become not friendly anymore.
Tariffs are paid by the importing companies, NOT the exporting one. It was cause demand issues and reduce imports IF there is an alternative with same price, otherwise consumers will face inflation. China produces the majority of health care products, so governments are going to bleed money for that to importing companies.
Trump may try to be selective on what he put tariffs on but all China has to do is restrict or raise prices on these items and fuck them.over, so goes the price wars caused by tariffs.
Soon they will become dependent on Russia, Iran or Turkey. For some of these exports that they cannot get from China like rare earth metals, or textiles... and by causing a trade war with Europe and Canada, oil from Iran and Russia. Except Tesla will get an exemption from tariffs for when Elon builds his factory in Mexico and Trump allows him to import from China.
