This is why I reject arguments that seem objective but are really not. (Example: "This is the rule of law" like JL mentioned above).
look
the rule of law is absolutely critical for any functioning society
the rule of law has to be applied equally and consistently
illegal immigrants know they are breaking the law when they enter the country
illegal immigrants know they are breaking the law every day they are in the country
you have empathy for some of these people and that is your choice
empathy for others is generally an admirable quality
it is not admirable when it clouds judgement and clearly conflict with your principal of equality
you can not selectively apply the law
the rule of law has to be applied equally and consistently
Boarders need to be secure and controlled
Without secure boarders you will have chaos
especially in Canada where our health care system is govt / tax payer funded
a very attractive system for most looking to immigrate
that system is being strained to the breaking point
open boarders will destroy this very fragile system, that most Canadians value dearly
if you entered illegally you need to go and then apply via the immigration system , it is as simple as that
We have assumed you are a Canadian citizen as you indicated you have voted multiple times.
So are you concerned about a family member / friend you fear may get deported because they entered illegally ?
if so you should encourage them to get their shit together and apply as soon as possible
if your position is illegal immigrants are not criminals, then you need to pull your head out of your ass
