mexico produce cars and load of auto parts essentials to US production.

They also produce a lot of food. The US cannot meet food production need without mexico.

this whole idea of tariffs is just another scare tactic of trump but it won't be roled out.
Mexico also cost the US billions of $$$ from the border crisis...and Mexico relies on their food being exported to the US...what do you think they will do with the mangoes and bananas? LoL...US makes autoparts within the US and Canada...Mexico needs US more than the US needs Mexico lol...if you think Mexico has leverage in this exchange, you're dead wrong...

Mexico relies heavily on the US so they don't really have any bargaining power...IMO they will most likely just kiss Trumps ass for 4 years and try to appease him, implement stricter border rules and call it a day (until further notice or until Trump is done) China relies on their cheaper products going into the US, products that US already have but at a higher price...China can't afford to pass on to the consumer if tariff happens...they no longer had the competitive edge, because let's face it...they really do make inferior product with only the lower price as their main selling point.
With rising costs of living, those are the products that sell lol.
Plus China also makes many high tech expensive products that will be even more expensive to manufacture in the US.
Imagine a Chinese manufactured iPhone that currently costs 2K manufactured in the US. It will be unaffordable.
So I think China will be fine.
Retaliatory tariffs on US products wont affect the Chinese consumer as much because they already make everything and they have already blocked many US products.

Wasn't there the renegotiated NAFTA (by Trump) for which these new proposed tariffs would violate?
If the contract was negotiated and signed by Trump it’s not worth its value in toilet paper.

if nothing else, you can’t argue Trump will renege on any contract and at the very least fail to pay what he agreed to in the contract.

Imagine what happens when US implements 25% tariff on those cars being sold from mexico? US has a housing crisis, not an automobile crisis...those plants are in danger of shutting down, in Mexico. It will be Mexico's problem not the US...you think all those parts can't be manufactured in the US? GM & Ford have big plants in the US...if these other manufacturers want to sell their products in the US, either they pay the tariff or build plants in the US. Majority of Americans already has shown to support Trump...Mexico either fix their borders play by the US rules or they are going to get fucked. Canada can stand on it's own. Mexico is a big ?

I was saying that above.

Best deal evah, nobody ever negotiated a bettah deal. People are saying it's a perfect deal.

Oh wait, he just negotiated a pile of shit I guess

Not a shocker though that he goes back on what is effectively his word

Also good to see that there are people on terb who thinking economically damaging Canada is hilarious.

I like the take by o'Leary who said he threaten 400% tariffs on China. That will bring them to the table, or bankrupt them.
Given how much the US imports from the PRC, it would be politically unsupportable for an American administration to attempt to impose it as more than a PR move.

Many people are mesmerized by Trump’s satire. In the end , there is usually “ much ado about nothing” although occasionally Trump does something which is highly effective and actually matches the rhetoric.
America is not in a position to tell their banker, China what to do.
Trump is just a blip or flash in the pan for China’s 40 to 70;year Silk Road plan anyway.

denying the US access to Canadian Fresh water is a strange idea
They can pump all the water out of the great lakes they need and there is not a damn thing we could do about it
Yeah, I kinda thought the same about the comment. The USA has every right and access to every drop of water in the Great Lakes as Canada

Having said that, there are a myriad of treaties and agreements that govern our mutual interests

No production will be brought back to the US. Thats just another Trump lie. Do know how many years it would take? 5 to 7. All know the tarrif, if implemented at all won't last long. So they simply higher up the price.
