I have found that greater good is not achieved incrementally, but by leaps. It's the banality of evil, slow erosion that comes with small steps. The New Deal came out of the Depression, Magna Carta was forced, the French Revolution toppled the aristocracy, the USA Revolution created the US Constitution. More micro abortion rights, gay marriage come not from politicians but fighting in the courts and a sudden change as a result.
It has been in times of crisis, of things becoming bad, that people are truly ready to take a chance for change, and the rulers realize the jig is up.
In the case of Gaza and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, there will not be a peace deal, just a winnercand a liser. But out of that will come the end of the conflict.
