There is nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion. When someone posts something of opinion, it is not wrong or right per se but merely an opinion. You can agree or disagree. Now it's a different ballgame when you post facts which are incorrect! That is not a matter of opinion. Some people lack common sense or don't have the intellect to comprehend something alien to them.
So... he would know. Right? Go to the expert and all that.
He is right and the misuse of the term Troll bugs me far beyond the whole words have meaning thing.
i am also annoyed by the misuse of the term. seems it is the new defense against coming up with a counter-point. "i can't beat your argument so you are a troll nah nah boo boo".
I didn't spell it out, but that is why it is so bothersome.
It is getting silly though. I was called a troll elsewhere because I cracked a joke in a post filled with on topic stuff. Not as bad as disagreement troll but still.
It is almost like the term hero. Oh look person is dying of something in the hospital what a hero. Really? So what do you call people who enter into a risky situation for the benefit of others.
As Bill Maher says, words have meaning. Or at least they should.
i was so annoyed the miners in chile were being called hero's, it was possibly the most annoying thing ever. i can understand why people call me a troll here, the waitress thread i started and my first few months here i made a name for myself. what is sad now is that when i make a valid point that someone can't argue they yell troll and hope it goes away. it is a sad state of affairs in the world when it becomes a valid offense to a good conversation. i would rather talk to someone that i can have a debate with and disagree with and carry on with our day than someone that can't even form a complete thought without dropping an insult.
i have admitted i was wrong a few times around here. a real troll wouldn't do that. oh and christian bale was not a hero for going to see those people in the hospital, he was just a nice guy. those words HAD meaning.
Best reason to debate trolls is to get your post count high enough to earn a key to the terb clubhouse.
dirk, I have them on "ignore". Typically they post profusely and do not seem to see SPs, so I am not missing anything.
On that basis, does this thread help the issue or inflame our little trolls?

You kinda brought the troll thing on yourself, reputations are a bitch. It is almost impossible to tell when someone is being extreme because they are mal adjusted, truly stupid or if they are just trying to get your goat. In a world with NAMBLA anything is possible. I mean really, Meat Ball lovers, that is just sick. You have accused me of trolling when in fact I am just a freak with freakish opinions.
As for a real troll not admitting they are wrong. I assume one can be a part time troll, or go from troll to non troll and back. Perhaps I am wrong and there is some sort of troll mafia that you can't leave.

i am self admitted but it does strike me sad that people can't tell the difference. there are a lot of guys here that i gave a lot of credit to during past conversations but have since come to realize they are just not bright people (you are not one of those people). yeah i get bored on my days off with nothing to do and start shit threads to entertain myself cuz really i could go create a fake account right now with a topic of my choosing and i would send you a PM with the names of who will respond and in what manner. when i first found this place by accident oh so many years ago i never thought i would lat as i don't last in many forums due to my asshole nature. sadly i started to enjoy the company of a few here and i would think a few here enjoyed having me around as well but they would never admit such a thing. when the mood strikes me and the thread is of a serious topic i can be very honest, in fact honest to a fault. you guys know quite a bit or real things about me whether you choose to believe it or not is not my issue.

I think Rockslinger and GG2 are the king of trolls here.
Rockslinger because he posts inane asides and comments in every thread he can. For every 1 worthwhile post he has 10 that aren't. I used to think he was functionally retarded, but now I think he's just a master troll. And I give in to that by responding, but I can't help myself.
GG2 is either another master troll, or one of the worst humans on this board (and that is saying quite a bit) Again, I initially was leaning toward the latter, but now I think he's just a troll. Still an incredibly fucked up human, but a pretty good troll. I react every time, so who's the true retard in this case?
I like to think of Rockslinger as Forrest Gump, incredibly slow and stupid, but essentially harmless, while GG2 is a little smarter, but definitely not harmless. Maybe a little like the guy from Psycho. Anyways, obviously just my opinion

I wouldn't see it as cowardly. I spend way too much time on terb as it is. Ignoring people who post often but don't have anything to say on the main topic is a perfectly cromulent way to cut the time down a bit. As for difference of opinion. Watching the same arguments over and over again does get pointless as does having the same arguments. Can't really spend time arguing with people who agree with you. I have lots of people on ignore, but sadly my curiosity makes me peek at their posts sometimes.

By your description, the slinger of rock would be more a spammer. Not in the advertising sense but in a flooding manner. He doesn't mean to get a negative emotional reaction and would probably prefer it if you enjoyed his posts. He just does it too much.
As for GG2, I don't know. Is he trying to be funny Sarah Silverman style. Is he is really that fucked in the head. Or is he trying to piss people off. All three are cromulent interpretations. I know I play blue, and I am a freak but alas I am not a troll.
something changed for me a few years ago and trolling none stop, stopped being fun. a part time troll is an asshole. a real troll is someone can't stop, just going place to place begging for attention cuz really a troll is just someone that needs people to pay attention to them and the easiest way to get that attention is to go to a forum based on a certain topic and take the opposite opinion than everyone on every single thread while being outlandish and retarded. when i get in that mood now i have a religious forum i go to and pretend my tourettes affects my typing. i got a white power forum i go to and pretend i am black and the best is called argue with everyone and just be me and shit on everyone that says anything.
i have never put anyone on ignore and have no reason to, i find it incredibly difficult to get offended by the words of someone i don't know and as far as ignoring people cuz they post to much, i can see if it is worth reading in the first line and then skip past it, which i do with quite a bit. so for celtic to put me on ignore i find cowardly and stupid, i have never seen an sp so he is gonna ignore me. he is either a coward or stupid.
