That's DoFo and Tory's work.
I'll give you Tory who bent his knee to the left-wing councilor nutjobs to put bike lanes everywhere and invest in another antiquated streetcar line...but DoFo and RoFo wanted subways and no bike lanes because they knew getting this city moving required keeping roads for vehicles and more efficient transit that doesn't cause even more traffic congestion.

But maybe Chow will fix things by renaming some roads and blowing more tax dollars.

Maybe they can fix this problem by renaming some streets to make them less congested!
It would be like. "No way I'm gonna drive on a street with that name."

King St. is one of the worst. They could rename it "The Hitlerway", like The Queensway.

No great surprise.
It was bad before I left. However look at any city or municipality. Which comes first the chicken and increasing taxes/revenue to pay for expansion? Or the egg/expansion and revenue after the fact…

Fact of the matter is, Toronto and the GTA is the fastest growing city in North America. Let that sink in. Repeat it however many times is needed to absorb that.

And there are reasons for that. Reasons you all wanted……it’s called economics and jobs, plus having infrastructure services and amenities and everything else on silver spoons…Or “follow the money”.. How many “world class” cities do you see in Canada…

you all made your own beds..especially during 2003-2012 while you all stuck your heads in the sand.hung a ton of people out to dry…me me me me me.

Skoob, post 2008 the GTA’s population has exploded, and it’s not just immigrants flooding the area, and while your position has merit. Increased growth, needs increased revenue. Period. For example look at the MTPS budget in 2012, and 2023. Adjust for inflation and it’s flat. Do you think adding a million or more residents requires more police? A lot more???

Or for those that whine incessantly about healthcare and warnings they ignored over and over and over and over while threw money around Willy Nilly, and dug very deep debt holes…living beyond their means and off of deficits..

Couple that with the fact Seniors are living longer and not leaving the city as they used to because they’ve realized nowhere else has the services and infrastructure they need and…….

.And if you think it’s bad now, fast forward 5-10 years…when the population is projected to reach…..and most or all Boomers have left the work force…….no longer contributing to GDP or tax revenues.

As for Frank and others that don’t grasp economics, or do naught but pay lip service to socioeconomics, don’t follow economist or who think money grows on trees and they know better... Or people that arrive in the GTA and center of the universe who know very little about Canada, or life outside the gta. It’s a free world.and or can only blame “DoFo” rather than themselves and none more so than McGuinty, Wynne, A couple unions and blind, deaf self serving voters and self absorbed voters..that don’t grasp human nature or diversity…aka there’s more to Canada than just the GTA

Just hope future voters have more common sense, aren’t gullible to vote buying for election wins, , know there’s life outside the GTA and or there’s electoral reform and FPtP which is badly broken. Two/three decades ago the GTA wasn’t the center of the universe, or the fastest growing city in NA.

Here
We all know which politician has jam packed the country with immigration over the past few years and is responsible for this.
Yes because all those brand new immigrants that are living in sheltered and subsidized housing and working for minimum wage are clogging our streets with their Cadillacs and Mercedes. Makes perfect sense to me. Problem solved congratulations

The crackhead and his brother cancelled city wide LRT's that were fully funded by the province and gave Toronto a .5% property tax increase to pay for a subway that still hasn't been built.

Now DoFo has sold off service ontario and vaccine delivery.

Who said they have to be brand new? Have you not seen an immigrant that has been here for 4+ year have a car? Is it that unheard of? Is it not possible the stress put on public transit results in more cars?

I think that could work!
And instead of traffic signals they install virtue signals.

No one wanted LRTs that would clog streets just the same as streetcars and not solve the problem just because they were cheaper.
Service Ontario was already operating out of private businesses like Canadian Tire. More than half of the Service Ontario locations are already privately owned.
Stop spreading misinformation.

Traffic problems are caused by immigrants? It is remarkable how people who hate immigrants can find ways to blame them for literally every problem known to man.

More people means more tax revenue.
It's not like Toronto residents that were here before 2008 are the only ones still paying taxes and everyone else who became a resident after that has not.
What I'm saying is that tax revenue has increased with the population. it just hasn't been managed properly.

We have LRT's that are working fine already on St Clair, Spadina and Queen's Quay. Don't be ignorant.
They work great and don't slow traffic.

This isn't about the location, this is DoFo firing government workers and having the jobs go to lesser paid private companies that will not serve the public first. Its about Griftco.

DoFo is screwing up everything he touches.

Your examples are within the city core...how about those trying to get there?

The service at Staples will be better. You know why?
Because if an employee slacks off like their union counterparts, they will be fired. The service at current union-infested Service Ontario locations is terrible.
Besides, you can do most of what they do online anyway and for things that can't be, the hours will will be better.

Traffic management is about straightforward math. The two numbers that matter are: 1) the average number of people per hour travelling a particular stretch of road and b) the average speed of travel per person over a particular stretch of road. The city continually collects data about both numbers. They already know that: a) bike lanes detrimentally affect both of these numbers, b) reserved bus/taxi lanes detrimentally affect both of these numbers, and c) reducing lanes for dedicated LRT/bus corridors adversely affects these numbers (not even taking into account lanes closures/reduction for construction and maintenance). The city already knows that the most cost effective and timely way of addressing mobility within the city is: a) to reverse course on bike lanes and dedicated transit lanes, and b) to build subways and/or elevated/isolated LRTs (leaving the number of lanes of surface roads intact).

So why don't they do what the numbers tell them? Environmental concerns? No, congested traffic creates MORE emissions, not less. Social engineering? There is a shortage of available housing within cycling range of Toronto core employers, so there's no possible traction on convincing people to live in denser housing (which bureaucrats want people to do, for a variety of reasons). Nope, the usual justifications just don't hold water.

The answer is - Torontonians keep electing morons to City council, and they keep putting morons into senior city staff positions. It's as simple as that. If Torontonians really want to solve this problem (and they really NEED to or they will continue to lose the business property tax base that subsidizes Toronto residential property taxes), they have to commit to electing entirely different political representatives. No need to look for a sophisticated reason when stupidity fits.

Maybe this is the only way to post arguments you'll understand.
