All the more reason to vote for Frank D' Angelo!!!!!
All the more reason for a basic civic aptitude test to weed out the clueless from the electorate.

A week left before E-day. Looks like the race is for 2nd place.

Maybe the losers can run for councillor in the next election. Got to balance the power at city hall.

What's this power imbalance that you are referring to?

The city council has had a center-right/right-wing majority since amalgamation and has been led by a center-right/right-wing mayor for 17 years, all of which has led to it's current state of decay, and decomposition plus a catastrophic $46.5billion budgetary gap over the next 10 years.

And you bunch of "we want everything, but don't want to pay for anything", civic governance illiterates want more of the same?

13 years of right-wing ideology created this city that you wail about which is now more expensive, congested, dirty, crime ridden and on the precipice of financial calamity.

And you want more of the same?

Think McFried, think.
There hasn't been 13 years of right wing ideology. If anything Tory has been centre left. Plus city council is mostly comprised of liberal progressives.

One more week and the present all sorts of senseless noise on this one mayor of one city issue will inexorably grind to a halt. Amen.

If it was such an important job, it should have a get on the ballot entry fee set at $10,000.
And if you pull in 5% of the vote you get $9,000 of it refunded.
Then the pool of candidates would more manageable and maybe begin to be credible.

Sure.

But, only if you look at it from through an extreme right-wing, MAGA/Bouncy Castle Occupation Convoy distorted prism.

No I'm looking at it from a common sense political spectrum perspective. Since 2015 the city of Toronto has been governed from a centre to centre left ideology. And for 8 years prior to 2011 it was left wing kook Miller in power. Possibly the worst mayor of all time.

Miller's Transit City was the best transit plan for the last several decades.
Fully funded by the province, fully planned out and all set to go.

That was cancelled by the crackhead and his brother and he gave us a 100 year tax increase to pay for a $2 billion single subway station instead.

Your "common sense political spectrum perspective" is not only not factual, but also seriously askew.

Almost 20 years of Lastman. Rob Ford and John Tory's 0, 1 or 2% property tax increases that has led to underfunded city services, underfinanced state of good repair maintenance, underinvested infrastructure and most importantly fiscally irresponsible mismatching of revenue vs. quality of city life.

Not only has this created a decaying, decomposing city but also an unimaginable $46.5billion funding gap over the next 10 years.

That's quite a legacy of shame and disgrace and it all comes back to the horribly failed, fiscally shambolic policies of the center-right. right-wing majority on council and mayors.

If you are Torontonian, and vote for more of the same, you should have your head examined.

Tory is right wing.
Maybe from your perspective since you are extreme left. But in reality his policies have been centre to centre left. Largely because he has to placate the lefties on council. Here's the council makeup of Tory's first term in office

I count 10 councilors who can be considered right leaning - Crisanti, Ford, Holyday, Nunziata, Minnan-Wong, Crawford, Thompson, Carmichael-Greb, Shiner and DiGiorgio
I count 6 who I'd consider moderate centrists - Pasternak, Bailao, Burnside, Berardinetti, Kelly and Ainslie
The rest are left wing - 28 out of 44 or 64% of council.

I became a resident of Toronto in 2001. Sewell was before my time. I know little to nothing about the man.

Property tax increases under John Tory
2015 2.75%
2016 1.30%
2017 2.50%
2018 2.10%
2019 3.58%
2020 4.24%
2021 0.70%
2022 4.40%
2023 7.00%
AVG 3.17%

You can't argue that Tory's increases were too low and that's why we have underfunded city services. There are underfunded city services because left wing kooky policies have driven businesses out of the city.

OK fair enough. The worst mayor since I've been in the city. But still I can't imagine that Sewell could have been worse than Miller, since he only had two years to inflict his damage.

What’s the prediction for tax hike percentage if Chow gets in?
