Leafs hang on to win 3-1 in Nashville. Magic number is 8 pts. Any combination of Leafs pts gained and Tampa pts lost totaling 8. The Leafs clinch a playoff spot.
With no playoffs expectations I'm enjoying this for what it is.

Islanders appear to be in freefall. Philly or Carolina could still sneak in, though.
Islanders, Canes and Flyers are pretty much done. They pretty much have to win every game. Islander and Flyers the way that played lately would suggest they won't win 6 in a row. The Canes may win 6 in row but they may not have enough ROWs (tie breaker) to break in. The Leafs magic number over Carolina is 7, Islanders 5, Flyers 3.
Ottawa fans should also be a bit worried as they have played themselves back into the pack chasing them. While everyone else has been on winning streaks, Ottawa has lost 3 in a row. Toronto needs to take at least 3 of 4 points against Detroit and Buffalo (this game does worry me) before they end the season against Washington, Tampa, Pittsburgh and Columbus.
Babcock will remind the boys of the last Buffalo game. Tampa is the biggest game.
I hate playing against teams that have nothing to lose because they have nothing to lose.
Except certain percentage numbers to winning the draft lottery. Shanna-plan knows all to well.
Tavares could be done for the season so the Isles are probably finished.
Leafs hang on to win 5-4 over the Dead Wings. Don't look now but the Leafs are in 2nd place in the Atlantic (based on more ROWs than Ottawa).
Here is a scenario, if the Leafs beat Buffalo on Monday, get a point vs Washington on Tuesday, and should Boston beat TB on Tuesday. The Leafs can clinch a playoff spot.
Or if TB loses to Dallas on Sunday. The Leafs win on Monday and get a point on Tuesday vs Washington, the Leafs clinch.

Amazing that the Leafs can go from "Worst to First". Well, it feels like first.
Kudos to Babcock for speeding up Shanahan's divine plan. It's one thing to draft well but if you don't have a coach who knows how to use the pieces....
Ottawa is reeling at the moment, with a lot of injuries. Three of their top four defencemen are out. If Boston passes them, which is very possible, and Toronto stays ahead of them , also very possible, then Leafs and Bruins play each other in the opening round. Hmm... I think I've seen something like that before, but I've tried to erase the memory.
