Someone should have told the Leafs they are playing Florida.
Losing to Pittsburgh is one thing, but losing to Florida is disappointing.

Leafs still holding onto final playoff spot while waiting on the injured to return.
Still along way to go and the Olympic break coming up.
That Pittsburgh team they loss to had a lot of AHL players on it. Both games were winnable.
I have become very disenchanted with the Leafs. The enthusiasm isn't there. Unless things change quickly
the Leafs will be golfing early.

Leafs are losing and we want them to win ... Raptors winning and we want them to lose ... Being a fan in T.O can test anyone's enthusiasm

Me too. I don't who the 'we' are in Barnani's post because he's not talking on behalf of a lot of us who are against tanking.
sorry ... Leafs are losing and Leaf nation want them to win ... Raptors winning and tank nation want them to lose .

I'm beginning to wonder if the makeup of this team fits Carlyle's style of coaching.

I'm concerned that there are just too many soft players on this team, we're losing one-on-one battles and not too often you see a Leaf take a hit to make plays.

That meat head from Buffalo Sabres was partly right- It's not Princess Phaeneuf, it's the Toronto Maple Princesses. The grit and toughness of last season has been replaced by softness and apathy. The coach really needs to start benching some bigger names. Not just Ranger.

Wow alumni roster for Leafs vs Wings is bringing back childhood memories ... Dan Daoust , Pat Boutette , Darryl Sitter , Borje Salming , Tiger Williams, Mike Palmateer etc

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/maple-leafs-announce-winter-classic-alumni-roster-1.2464465

Domi on the and he said he played with the Steen's ( father and brother ) and played with the Randy Caryle ... I guess when you play from 1990 to 2006 generation overlaps will occur ..
i saw Borje S at the Hall of Fame game. He's had hands like shovel blade. He could grip a pumpkin single handed. Let's hope the weather helps out. These games are great. I still remember the Habs goalie with a toque on. Those were the days.

I love these games as well. Reminds us Canadians of our youth and the fun we used to have going down to the rink after school.

I remember seeing a picture of Salming with his shirt off in his playing days and man was he in good shape.

And that was in a time when there was not a lot of emphasis on weight training and conditioning. One of the Leafs better moves in those days signing him.

Inge Hammarström not so much,lol.

Ah, the kapok stuffed goalie pads that weighed a ton at the end of the game, the trapper no bigger than box of kleenex the wooden slates as armour in your hockey gloves, the helmets that barely gave you more protection than a cardboard box, face masks what face masks, and the chicken wire around the top of the boards that did a job on your face when you got boarded and the COLD bleacher seats.

Then there was the cacophony of CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!

Leafs win ! Whew

Phaneuf played well, and at 27 minutes + too. Rielly and Liles played just over 18 each.
Randy seems to be playing Liles more lately.

Much better first two periods for Toronto. Third they seemed to get lazy and sit on lead until... the inevitable tie. Nice the team picks up 2pts when Sens,Habs and Bruins all lose. Bozak comes back on the 29th, it might be just what that first line needs to start producing again. I'd hate to see Kadri break up the 2nd line of Lupul/Holland/Raymond though..

See the Flyers win again, going from a disgrace to sitting in 8th. Just crazy..
When is a team in eighth place but not in eighth place ?
When said team is in the NHL with the new NHL playoff format. :D

The Flyers may be in eighth when you look at the standings, but they would not make the playoffs were they to begin today.
So Flyer fans ... how do like the new format ? :frusty:

Dave Nonis has a strong and clear message for his frustrated and disappointing Maple Leafs players.

“If they’re waiting for a coaching change, they’re going to be waiting a long time,”

Last year of Wilson season he was 18 14 5 41 pts this year 39 pts .... They must avoid Janauary / February blahs .

Season far from over and it is damn near impossible to find a trading partner to improve.

okay I,ll bring it up. was that not a joke on the shootout. how do you call it a goal, when you didn,t see it cross the line? I could care less that it was the leafs that scored. time to get this shootout sideshow, out of the game. absolute pish!

How do you not call it a goal? You could see it wasn't under his front pad and the rest of him was in the net. If Phoenix believed it wasn't a goal there would have been a lot more screaming.
Great attempt by Smith to keep the puck hidden.
