he's great in interviews, just as poised as he is on the ice, he could give Kessel lessons on how to give an interview. Bernier is keeping the team in games long enough for them to wake up and get the wins.
As long as Kessel keeps filling the opposing team's net his interviewing skills mean little to Leaf nation.

As for his play, I have noticed he is going more to the net this season. Which is going to pay high dividends this season if he keeps it up.

I didn't know that the " World Wildlife Fund " had these type of skills .

That was a type of post I learned from " gcostanza " lol
Actually, I used the past tense, so it would include when there still was a "Federation".

No quit in this team this year. It wasn't pretty, trailing four times. but it was a come from behind win.

I hate seeing the leafs win so many games, but I guess I shouldn't complain as I've been betting them every game and they've won me some good coin. I will not contribute to this thread for the rest of the season. If they happen to win the cup I will congratulate them, if they don't then I will say ha ha. Bye till the end of the season.

With all the talk about Kadri's ice time in the media ... You would think he was off to a bad start . So far 6 pts in 6 games

Very entertaining games tonight. Explains why the Leafs do not excel at the forecheck. Who wants to forecheck when you can play hockey like this.

I like Gardiner over Riley. Riley just does not do enough, make enough defensive plays. He will learn, but right now Gardiner is a better player. Guess who was on the ice with the empty net, Gardiner.

Didn't know Steve Smith is still playing. He's as old as Carlysle, almost.

Lupul leads the team in goals and points. JVR tied in the lead in goal scoring. Kadri going at a point a game pace. Kessel going at a more than a point a game pace.

Don't you think we still have not seen the best game the Leafs can play?

If I remember correctly, the last time the Leafs out played and out shot somebody, was in the playoffs against Boston where they went full out every shift in the latter games in that series.

Like to see a game with a strong defensive effort, and a dominating offensive effort. This team probably could do that. They have not so far. All they do is just barely enough to win.

I'm enjoying the wins, but they cannot continue like this and expect to have success. They've been outshot every game since the opener, and in that one they had a 38-37 advantage. They're lucky with their shooting percentage right now much like last season.

I think this will correct itself over the course of a full season...but they need to buckle down and actually try to play defence. Pond hockey doesn't win in the playoffs!

That was Lupey !

What a game, far to sloppy though. Lucky it was the young Oilers. Another team likely would have made the Leafs pay.

I could have lived with a penalty call on the OT winner.

Finally....Phaneuf shows some speed on two separate rushes. He lost the puck both times, but at least showed a little speed. Must be a contract year!

a win is a win even if its an ugly win. that was exciting but ugly.
Oilers need a goalie desperately!

Reimer is starting next game I predict.

Rough outing for Bernier although that is one porous defence in front of him.

Reilly looks lost in his own end a great deal of the time. My bet is that Nonis sends him down before the 9 game limit is over.

The Leafs are missing Fraser and Gunnarsson is logging 25+ minutes a game. Carlyle has to juggle his defensive rotations, it doesn't always work and Bernier can't be Superman every game.

Minnesota Wild in tonight.

Hope the Leafs can finally put in a solid effort. If they do should be a win for Blue.
Looks like a good game to get Reimer back in net.

Another game where the Leafs were badly out shot.

Another game where Riemer gives big juicy rebounds, one he actually jumped out to clear the puck himself pass the blueline out of the zone.

Another game with glaring giveaways from your best goal scorer and your best defensemen.

Another lack luster effort.

On the positive side, you already know what I am going to say! Yes! Another Leafs win!

I only saw the 3rd period, where the Leafs were up by 2 goals. I expect a big push, but I only saw one big push by Minnesota, which they didn't really have a great chance. So if you were the Leafs, you did okay, up by 2 goals in the 3rd and you only let the other team pressure you only once the entire period.

I think the Leafs played better in their own zone, and they were better in the other end too, with the cycle game. Slowly, I think the Leafs are rounding into form.

So many teams in the league today, and I think it has to do with the coaching, that end to end hockey means to them dump it in and forecheck in their end, then the other team dumps it in your zone and forechecks in your end. That end to end hockey to those teams.

The Leafs under Carlyle and the previous coach Wilson are different. The Leafs try to score on the rush. With Carlyle, he seeks more balance with top 2 lines skaters and player makers and the bottom 2 lines bangers.

You got to like this Leafs team. The wingers score. The centers make nice plays, like tonight with Bolland on the power play set up for a goal and that Kadri no look pass to Lupul for a goal the previous game. Like, what a play!

Then Riemer stops the puck but the pucks lays there on the blue paint, and quickly a player comes and takes it away, and that was Kadri. The Leafs centers are making plays at both ends of the ice.

If you were the other team, how do you beat the Leafs? Out work them, is a start, but better not allow a PP goal. Get a lead, but the Leafs seem to be able to come back. Get behind, and the Leafs forwards will be looking for more.

Outshot badly again...

Leafs were not for-checking much the whole game, maybe just because of all the absentees I hope. They let Min shoot the puck a lot but in reality, not too many dangerous scoring chances except a couple of break away...

Rheimer was his old good form, backstopping the team for another win. Number#3 looked pretty bad last night. Kessle let the not-tipping-empty net goal speak for himself, what a guy!

Go LEAFs Go

Leafs are 6-1 and we are fixated on shots on net . The Avs are 6-0 and were out shot badly last night . Cujo , Eddie gave Leafs 100 point seasons and I am pretty sure those Leaf teams were outshot on a many of nights .
