I do not like the shoot out, but it is better then ending in a tie.

Leafs win !

Bernier has to be early #1 goalie.
All the new guys showed up to keep the Leafs in it.

Raymond, I like and dislike his play. Seems a bit soft to me.

Glad MacArthur did not score.

Go LEAFS !

Another come from behind win for the Buds and they finished in a convincing shoot out. They haven't won a shoot out since first half of March '2012'. It's good to see a lot of the leafs are scoring, not just one or two. We are still in first place people.

Raymond has been really good so far, if you count his shootout winner then it was a 4 point night (yes I know shootout points do not count towards individual stats). Heck of a pickup for $1 mil.

Reimer looks absolutely terrible tonight, he was flopping around everywhere, getting caught out of position, giving away the puck, this confirms that Nonis was right in picking up Bernier, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bernier get the next bunch of starts, he's solid, doesn't flop around, and is a superior puckhandler.

Seems like Carlyle shortened the bench tonight, I don't recall seeing much of Abbott, Devane, Orr. Glad to see he kept playing Rielly even after being on the ice for 3 against, let him work out the jitters.

Bolland also looks solid. Team has been both good and lucky for the first 3 games, hope it continues.

Reimer and Bernier are two different styles of goalie, Drop and flop versus stand up. Reimer really only stunk in those two at the end. It's still play the one that suits the opposition until it fails. The competition between the two net minders will keep both sharp.

Raymond took a very serious injury against the Bruins in the Stanley Cup final a few years back. At the time he was playing great hockey. Been a long road back for him and it looks like the Canucks gave up on him. He's got something to prove and so far so good. Early in the season but he's looking like a sweet bargain thus far.

Have to agree.

The Leafs, play just well enough to win. Last year after it became apparent they would make the playoffs, coasted towards the end.

On the four goals against, I didn't like a single one. It was game 7 Boston all over again. Put it towards the net, and it could go in. Juicy rebounds.

Those new players for the Leafs, the raw rookies, they are not ready for the NHL.

Ottawa had a 2 on 1 late in the tied game, guess who broke up the play? The most over-rated defense-man in the league.

That shoot out goal by Ramond, should not have counted.

Bolland has been good. But that is how he always plays.

The next game, the Leafs should win. That should be a good game to watch as they could go end to end all night. Then watch Patrick Roy go crazy.

Imagine that. Brain Bruke. John Totarella. Pratrick Roy. All in the same conference. Ain't that a beauty.

Shit.

I just looked at the standings. Toronto is in first place.

First place in the entire fucking league.

Hope it continues. More reasons for people outside of Toronto, to hate everything Torona.

Including federal & provincial funding for (gasp!) subways.

Fuck yous all.

Go Leafs Go!
Go Leafs Go!
Go Leafs Go!

:p

With Fraser out, it doesn't make sense to start Reimer. Opposing teams are going to go to the net more often, you need a goalie that can move the puck out of harm's way quickly. Bernier is a very good stickhandler, if he becomes a star for the Leafs he'd better get used to being as popular in Quebec as Stephane Dion.

So Orr and Frazer McLaren can't do the job? Yes, it would be nice to have three but the whole team hits, just look at the stats of the first two games. They had more hits, in one game than both teams together. Kessel may not be an Orr, but even he has an edge to his game so far. In my mind, Reimer was the incumbent played well in his first game and should the get the start in the home opener.

Although I'm a Sens fan I do follow the Leafs quite religiously.

From what I can see so far it is going to be a fun year for you guys. They have a very exciting team.

I do worry about their back end though. They gave up a lot of odd man opportunities last night and way to many give a ways.

A run and gun style might be great to watch but it really doesn't lend itself to long term success in this league.

The Sens were affected by the back to back road games last night on consecutive nights and it was evident as the game wore on that the Buds had the fresher legs.

I'm just glad we got the point to be honest.

Blackie do you ever read what's typed before posting? It's not about fighting or hitting, it's about keep the crease clear and controlling rebounds. True, Fraser was just a goon when he got here but Eakins did a marvelous job of turning him into a very efficient stay at home defenseman. He and Carl Gunnarsson aren't recognized enough for what they bring to the team. Reimer isn't very good at moving the puck otherwise we would have beaten Boston last spring.

They lost Nonis halfway through the game.
Hope he's not out for long.
Mr Nonis is expected to be released from hospital later today.

Maybe Burke slipped something in his meal (just kidding I know they're good friends). Were the Leafs so close to the cap that they couldn't keep Colborne? They could've really used him last night. Phaneuf in my opinion is UNDERrated, there's so much hate going on for him by other players and "fans" (ie sheep who hear one thing and just repeat it because they hear it). He is always out against the top players on the other team. People watch him like a hawk and jump on him for the smallest mistake, every D-man in the league makes mistakes, they're just not under the microscope like Phaneuf is. He breaks up offensive opportunities by the opposition, joins the rush, quarterbacks the powerplay, kills penalties, hits, and is a general pain in the ass which is probably why other guys around the league hate him so much. Yes he's not the most mobile guy, not the fastest skater, but he's the top defenseman on the team for sure. I'm sure he'll be getting a generous extension, likely just under Kessel money/term.

I read just fine. I do understand it's about clearing the net and no fighting, just like hitting doesn't mean fighting. Your observations about Fraser and Gunner are right though. Yes one of Reimers short comings is puck handling, but that's not unique to him and many top goalies. They all can't be Brodeaur, Hexstall, or Osgood.

At the coin he is making I don't believe anyone can call him underrated.

He's a slightly above average D-Man in my books.
