Bleacher Report ranks Jays farm systerm 3rd best in baseball, behind Kansas City Royals system which is supposed to be 'historically good' ,whatever that means, and Tampa Bay at #2.
BR's report on Twins farm system, rated #8, is weird. Quote: "Position players Lars Anderson, Brett Lawrie, Wilson Ramos, and Conor Gillaspie are all potential MLB starters.". Problem is all 4 of those players belong to other organizations. Can't believe they didn't catch this and correct it.

As for Dotel signing, I would have preferred to promote a minor leaguer and spend the money saved on one or two highly ranked undrafted Latin free agents when teams are able to sign them after July 1/11.
Latin market is where Yankees seem get all their best prospects. Robinson Cano for a few years now and Jesus Montero on the way.
I've got a feeling Dotel is going to make Kevin Gregg look like Mariano Rivera but Anthopoulos hopes to convert a 1 year Dotel stay in Toronto into a Type B compensation round pick in 2012. The Elias Sports Bureau places a lot of emphasis on saves, and if he can get saves, his ranking by them could go high enough to obtain Type B status going into 2012 season.
This past season the Jays were able to convert Buck, Gregg and Olivo into picks 42, 49, and 50 in the 2011 baseball draft. AA is obsessed with finding ways to manufacture round 1A comp pics and that's a good thing at this stage.
