I don’t like showing my ID and even with the new QR code, it won’t matter we still have to break out our wallet. And these “checkers” want to hold you card, not washing their hands first, then your vaccine slips, again, not washing their hands first. Who made this up?

The software is due in October. This I blame on the reluctant Doug Ford who admits he's being pulled and forced into the vaccine passport which he is now losing my vote. It's either vaccination compliance or future lockdowns. The numbers keeping on track in Ontario so far show the vaccines are working. No, to be honest, I haven't. I was in Quebec but I only needed to show my certificate on my phone and a piece of ID as I did here yesterday. I have no idea how the QR codes will work.
Well for one - here it is only available to businesses and in Quebec, consumers can use it. So if I wanted to only see vaccinated clients, I couldn't because I need a business license (I will still get it because of my other business but you get the idea)
We don't get to know what is shown of our info. That is one difference.
Also - with the requirement of still needing ID - it makes the system redundant and that money spent could have gone to health care instead. As you said, use your phone or paper copies. Why the need for money to be spent on another “system”? It is a waste of money and time.

It will work offline but requires internet for updating so if the business doesn't update, and you had your shot last week - guess what? You are not getting in.
Businesses that require the vaccine to get service do not require it for giving service so that makes totally no sense. You even agree there.
We already know that you can get and give COVID with the vaccine.
