Sure could be. I dont know if the shooters in this case fit into those categories but it is possible.

But we are talking about the larger issue of crime in general. The argument is that it is overrepresented in the black community and therefore according to some racial profiling is a good solution. I am saying it is not. Instead focus on fixing systemic issues that drives them to crime aka nip it off in the bud so to speak.
So, it is entirely possible for both sides to be “right”?

um Pot meet kettle???

Your solution to a fairly complex albeit easy to identify actual problems…

is knee jerk, blanket ban all guns…
Lmao
Knee jerk or not, it is correct. Nobody can argue the (theoretical and extreme) fact, that if there zero guns, there would be zero gun deaths. Just work back from there.

BTW, I don't understand your pot/kettle reference. I didn't call or accuse anyone of anything such that I am being hypocritical. I stated that having to find all the reasons before we can do anything a red herring or maybe better, a rabbit hole. There are sooo many different reasons that gun deaths occur, that nothing would ever be done. And that is exactly what has happened, and continues to happen, in the US.

No. I am not sure what your understanding of each of these sides is.

But the other side is not right in saying that racialized communities should be profiled by police as a solution to crime. That has been tried before and it does not work. It just results in more oppression, and therefore more isolation and more crime.
That is what you are stuck on atm. Throughout the thread you’ve challenging stats as being reductive and manipulative with respect to gun violence, race and more . “Agreeing “ on solutions is a different topic.

carding for example is one thing. Using crime stats to crack down on certain areas of the city is another.

Alternatively you could look at it that way. Cracking down on gangs to “stop” current, near term problems. And using youth at risk, dealing with barriers to mitigate future. Yes?

Hence both can be right.

Give us one example of a ban that’s worked.
Fentanyl and other illicit drugs? Why is it so hard for some to comprehend it won’t work especially when 75-80 of crime guns today, are from the US. I mean seriously!

and what did we do about Alcohol and drinking and driving Ban alcohol? Or crack down on the problem. Your “logic” is bullit proof…

Speaking of random checks.

Again. Yes or no. It’s a binary question. Black or white.

Do blacks commit a disproportionate amount of violent crime( gun crimes)? Yes or no!

The rest of your blowing smoke, is about addressing “the root cause”. Looking for solutions. Your as bad as the liberals in the house.

These dim wits will shoot off their mouths and consider their cowardly acts as a badge of courage. Hopefully someone will turn them in, be it for jealousy, revenge or doing the right thing. The reason matters not to me.

Another rabbit hole question.

First of all, we are talking about guns and only guns.

Second, I never mentioned a complete ban.

Finally, I offered my hypothesis. Zero guns=zero gun deaths. You cannot refute that.

The logical conclusion is that significantly less guns=significantly less gun deaths. And a much simpler approach than doing nothing until we discuss every single reason that a murder by gun was committed. It's a rabbit hole.

I call that deflection.
We don’t live in an alternative reality where there will be zero guns. We live on the planet earth, in a country called Canada, we share a land border with the US…Do we not?

if you want to call it a rabbit hole, I call it sticking your head in the sand.

Crime gun.
Do you know what meats that definition. Any gun, used in a crime. Be it a banger killing a bystander or. Husband killing his wife.

80% of them are smuggled from the US.

I prefer to work with facts, statistics and reality. You live in a fantasy world. I mean hey, if there was No Fentanyl and no coke there would be no people overdosing would there? I wish I lived in your fantasy world…

I can’t also help but notice you completely avoided Alcohol. No good answer to that either……….Both of you actually…

So that proves what I am saying. 57% of mass shooters are white. What share of population they make is immaterial.

Either that, or we can exclude race or "cultural nuances" as someone put it and consider the actual issues such as proliferation of guns, poverty, inequalities etc that are contributing factors to such violence.
The big difference is that white people will not defend murderers simply because they are white. I will be the first one to say, "just hang them". Black people will scream racism and will move to circle the wagons and will even celebrate black murderers. In addition Canada, blacks and natives (gladue) are legally entitled to less harsh sentencing because blacks and natives are over represented in the prison population as a percentage when compared to the percentage in the broader population which is just shear stupidity.

It is this leftist bullshit that gets people really riled up. And when you combine it with a legal system that only worries about criminal rights as opposed to the rights of victims of crime, it's even worse.

And a white man mass murdered several people in Nova Scotia. What is your point? Not to mention I already said that there are several reasons for crime. Race is not one of them.
As for the crime that does happen, yes I am more interested in fixing the root causes such as poverty and discrimination rather than be paranoic about a race or advocate for racial profiling or other types of legalized racism.
You are "more interested in fixing the root causes such as poverty and discrimination" rather than holding the perpetrators accountable. Left wing flame throwers like you rarely condemn aberrant behaviour. Always deflecting to the standard excuses of systematic racism, poverty and discrimination.

We live in a reality where, if there were less guns, there would be less gun deaths.

We live in a reality, where gun lovers will bury their heads in the sand and do anything to to hold on to their killing machines, to the detriment of our society.

I dont know. I have not looked up whether or not black people commit a disproportionate amount of crime. What I do know is that racialized communities suffer crime and violence, but I have no idea whether or not they make up the majority chunk of all violent crimes.
Dude you were presented with the chart...you refused it....I admit you have game...LoL...

I'm surprised to see Asians high on the chart. Almost all Asians I see are rather docile. Are the figures skewed by the gang war(s) in B.C.?

I, for one, support carding.
Racial profiling is just an excuse. If you stop appearing on the news everyday i would think otherwise. Its not racist, its a fact.

I'm not getting into the black vs. white vs. Asian vs. whoever is to blame game. I'm just going to call them criminals, with guns. The problem is, they have no fear of carrying a weapon, because Police don't have the power to search or even stop and question anyone anymore. While they do have the ability to pull over drivers if they suspect they're impaired and demand a breath test, they don't have the right to search anyone even if they know they're carrying weapons. The result is the criminals have been impowered, they walk freely among us with their concealed weapons. The Cops know who these thugs are. They know who's carrying weapons but their hands are pretty much tied. All they can do is react, after the fact. Sadly, this time it was an innocent mother of two young kids on her way to get lunch who was murdered in broad daylight. Nothing's going to change.

As it regards to this piece of news, where this lady got shot, no one defended the murderers. No one said dont hold them accountable. No one screamed racism. This is the right wingers on this thread constantly playing that game. The disagreement is on what should be done to prevent crimes from happening. BTW they are overrepresented? Could it possibly be because of over-policing of those communities? Like when I lived in the US in a rich white neighbourhood I have seen my white friends with more than 1lb of Marijuana on them at any time. Not a single problem for them. How many black people get busted for an ounce of weed, and get sentenced to life because of the 3 strike rule? Right wingers loooove to oversimplify things and use reductive reasoning. Its just lazy!
Black people are not being incarcerated for simple possession of weed here. Canada is not the US. Let's stay focused on our problems.
