I'll never abandon Star Trek.

They are building momentum toward a finale, missing is the dross of earlier episodes. Ethan Peck as Mr. Spock has the gravitas that Jeremy Sisto lacked. Sisto was convincing as Spock but the films were failures and Chris Pine played a MacKirk. With his baritone profundo voice and commanding physical presence he dominates the screen. Too bad Leonard Nimoy isn't around to enjoy it.

And they made Stamets look like a pussy.

Well, watched this evening's episode of discovery. Too much on the sentimental side. Funeral taking way too long. Burnham (starfleet office) bawling. I mean, this is supposed to be Star Trek. Get on with it !!!!

Also they keep hammering us with this gay sidebar that they could easily take out of the show without loss of anything. But they keep beating us with it, and of course, remind us once again for good measure, that these guys are gay. Big deal. Who cares. They could be heterosexual Klingons or Romulans for all I care. Let's get on with saving the galaxy.

GTA & Thereabouts...
Haha!!! I got in 'shit' for asking/complaining why they are pushing the gay agenda so freaking hard... Jeez. Enough. I don't want to see a hetero love story either. I want to see science, adventure and shit blowing up. In the future, sex preference should even matter or be a thing. (I'd only be interested to see how aliens fuck each other).

Kevin Spacey was right all along... Anthony Rapp should just have a cock in his mouth as he's so fucking irritating when he speaks.

That's right.... let's see some shit blowing up. Phasers, photon torpedoes... Enough of this sentimentality nonsense..

Yeah, I mean, it doesn’t bother me if the characters are gay. I just don’t care that they are. It’s not relevant information. This is a sci-fi show. Let’s see some aliens, and space battles, and mystery-solving androids, and French captains with British accents performing Shakespeare. No one’s really terribly interested who/what the characters are banging.

The problem isn't that Stamets is gay, the problem is that Anthony Rapp can't act.

There's a rich vain of material that can be gleaned from a gay character. They did it to great effect in Kimmy Schmidt and Difficult People, the actors involved have the skills to connect with the audience with fully formed characters. All Stamets has is his gayness, and he looks weaker and weaker with each episode. A big problem for Star Trek.

Ronnie Kray (glasses) is a gay character.

The gas station (Fizbo) scene from Modern Family is now classic lore. There are potential Darwin Award winners everywhere...would you pick a fight with an offensive lineman?

Yes! Happy Birthday to The World's Greatest Human Being, 88 years young. :applouse:

The latest episode is a prologue to what's to come in the two part finale. As usual Stamets looks weak and Spock looks strong. Peck put his stamp on the legendary character when he proclaimed, "unlike my father, I can allow myself to be emotional".

Jonathan Frakes is bringing out the best in the series with his solid directing. The storyline is tighter when he's at the controls. Emperor Giorgiou is driving a wedge between Culber and Stamets. If Culber turns turncoat, can Rapp rise to the occasions and carry the plot? If he fails then he won't be long for the series. The backlash against him has gotten extreme, not that Spacey should be forgiven. Not for a long time.

Now we go back to Easter Egg in E1, is Jason Isaacs returning to the series? I didn't bother with Enterprise, figuring the franchise had run it's course with Voyager. His plate has been full lately - he's almost Canadian.

Some reasons I watch:

- science fiction Star Trek
- long story arch
- good special effects
- good acting, I like Giorgio and Pike

Some things I hate:
- over focus on main character unlike previous star treks, essentially this is the Michael Burnham show
- lens flare, this is fast and furious of Star Trek, did you see the tight butt showing space suits?
- little character development
- playing and overplaying to stereotypes
- no hot seven of nine

I have a question about Voyager. At the time I had added work responsibilities Voyager has remained unfinished.

The last episode I watched, Voyager got a distress beacon from The Borg. They had run into a species they couldn't assimilate and were getting their asses handed to them. Who were the species?

Simply known as Species 8472 by the Borg and called that by the crew.

Thanks Butler1000, when I picked up the series again, 7of9 was already part of the crew.

"The weak shall perish" was the standard the Assyrians built the biggest empire the world had yet known. They reigned through terror but their bloodlust went too far. They eventually destroyed the Elamite Kingdom which turned into a curse in disguise. The Elamites were Proto-Persians, their elimination exposed the Assyrians to other tribes further east. Eventually the Assyrian Empire was completely destroyed. The weak shall perish.

The borg and species 8472 made the series interesting as it was winding down. Didn’t finish great but definitely some great episodes in it’s run. They just didn’t have the characters nor the acting to stand on its own.

Well now I know how the wondrous 7of9 became part of the crew. The first time I saw her, back then, she was getting stinkfaced by The Rock.

Did Kes become a Q? Jennifer Lien left Voyager to make American History X with Avery Brooks (Captain Sisko). She was outstanding as Derek Vinyard's wild sister in the movie - totally unlike the Ambien Kes.

Unlike Hulk Hogan, The Rock is not a sloppy wrestler.

ST:Discovery is keeping CBS All Access afloat, they are building to a spectacular ending.

Anson Mount has grown into the role of Captain Pike, he was great in E12 where he foresaw his future. He doesn't make you forget Jeffrey Hunter but he's a worthy successor.

On the flipside Anthony Rapp could be done with the show. After deposing Kevin Spacey, he must have known he would come under scrutiny. The chops aren't there, he's failed. If the gay element is required, Tig Notaro and Wilson Cruz are better actors.

I'm happy to report that Jonathan Frakes is taking on a larger role in the production of Star Trek:picard. He's always had a sure hand in directing episodes for the franchise.

I hope Baron Patrick Stewart's health holds, he'll be 80 next year.
