It was so blatantly obvious that the NHL wanted L.A. (Hollywood, Linsay Lohan, David Beckham, Miley Cyrus, etc. and all that) to win. A 5 minute major against the Devils certainly helped the Kings.
Can you tell us who Bettman has slotted in as champs for next year?

NY Rangers, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, or Philadelphia Flyers

Certainly not the Leafs, Sens, Habs, Flames, Oilers, Jets, or 'Nucks

What about the 5 minute major against the Kings earlier in the series? Difference is, NJ couldn't score and LA was able to score 3 times...

The 5 minute major was indeed a penalty, but from the look of the play, Scuderi left himslf vulnerable to the hit, the hit he knew was coming. Scuderi is responsible in this play as well, by not making himself vulnerable, he was trying to draw a penalty on the play and he did.
Scuderi did what he had to in order to get the win.

What are they thinking in Philly today ? lol
The fans must be delighted for the former Flyers.

Richards, Carter and Gagne are thanking Holmgren, especially so when the Cup comes back with their names on the Cup.
Also a special thank you from the fans in LA.

It is probably just a coincidence that the first 7 penalties (including a 5 minute major) were called against the Devils.
LA was penalized more than the devils in the first 3 games. It is just a coincidence. If the NHL was to collude in the finals, I'm pretty sure they would have wanted Marty Brodeur to win the cup one last time, and also give him the chance to win his first conn smythe, which is basically the only trophy he's missing.

Every single year someone has to come up with some conspiracy theory...

3 of those 7 penalties are 10 Minute Misconducts. There were actually 4 of the 7 penalties that resulted in LA PPs.

In the series, NJ 5 minute PP resulted in 0 goals... LA 5 minute PP resulted in 3 goals...
In game 2, NJ 0 for 6 on the PP... LA 2 for 2 on the PP...

No matter how you look at it, the more deserving team won...

If the fix was on, then Patrik Elias goal in game 4 would not have counted since Elias bumped Quick and even the Broadcasters said that NJ got away with one. LA did not whine, regrouped and won the cup in 6.

No conspiracy Rock. You can see almost anything if that's what you want to see.

That's what can happen when you are behind the eight ball early on, discipline suffers and that's where the mental and physical sides of the game are really at the forefront. When you get down quickly like that you need to stay sharper mentally and keep your physical play up. Where the mind goes the body follows.
