LA had a 3-0 lead and played like it. They did not want it as much as New Jersey, did not want to pay the price. They looked sluggish from the start.
It seemed to me that the Kings figured the 4-0 win would have taken all the hope out of the Devils. It may have worked if the Kings could have scored first.
Both goalies looked human last night.

I hope LA learned from this game and plays the style of hockey that got them to the final on Saturday.

I agree, it would seem inevitable, but you never know, do you?

It's not easy to win the final game. The players know they only need to win this one game and they are crowned the champions. Your nervous energy can make your legs wobbly and the longer the game goes scoreless, the more it favours the other team.

LA needs to come out strong next game, they have lost momentum now. They need to establish their game, which is physical and dominate and win the battles. They also need to get the first goal and keep grinding them down, in order to get the win and the Cup.

Jersey has momentum now and they have found the system that worked against LA in game 4. If they can keep up what they found was working in game 4, first on the puck, win those battles and cycle the puck, keeping LA on their heels in their own end, then I think they will win game 5.

I agree that they definitely have momentum, I wouldn't be surprised at all if jersey wins game 5. But realistically, the chances of them winning 4 in a row against LA are slim to none. All it takes is one amazing game from Quick and the series is over. He let in a weak one yesterday, but if he gets his groove back then LA has the cup.

On a side note, for all the hockey purists, note once again how "vital", "integral" and "unavoidable due to the speed and physicality of the game" that fighting is in the Stanley Cup.

Who cares, hockey sucks. I only watch it when I cant sleep. They have to put fighting in it to make people watch it and it takes no skill.

NBC lost some sponsors today after not canceling the game tonight on US national television in favor of an episode of America's Got Talent.
Kind of puts things in perspective about the priorities of people in America as well as the state of hockey in the USA.
Most Americans would rather watch Howard Stern judge a gay acrobat on his ribbon tossing talent then watch a championship pro hockey game.

Quite a win, a first cup for this '67 expansion team. They overcame their nerves and pulled it off.

The 5 and a game call early in the first, well played by Scuderi. It was no doubt a penalty, but he left himself vulnerable to the hit, that he knew was coming. He certainly drew that penalty and then some. I guess he didn't think he would get hurt too badly on the play.

Good for the Kings in the end. What's a final without a bit of controversy?

It was so blatantly obvious that the NHL wanted L.A. (Hollywood, Linsay Lohan, David Beckham, Miley Cyrus, etc. and all that) to win. A 5 minute major against the Devils certainly helped the Kings.

Despite the huge advantage from the 5 minute penalty, LA was obviously the better team. If it had been a two minute, they still would have got a goal out of it. The kings deserved the cup, first 8th seed to ever win it
