I'm confused, I've been led to believe that English players down dive. So I'll call what the best of the lot did against Atletico something else. Apparently the referee bought Gerrard's "tumble" and granted him a penalty.

Roma 3 Chelsea 1

Biggest myth around, English players may not go down as often as some foreign players, but Gerrard and Rooney have taken many a dive.

I agree with you about Gerrard and Rooney but let's not put them in the same category as Spanish and Italian players.
I am by no means putting them in the same category. I think it was Jose Mourinho that said a player would be naive not to consider going down if touched in the box. I hate to admit that even the great Thierry Henry went down once or twice.

My only point was that English players are not immuned to the odd flop.

Elite leagues like the EPL and La Liga are taking it on the chin from the lunch bucket Serie A. Real has no air power and they ask waaay too much from Fabio Cannavaro. No wonder he wears the goat horns so often; no wonder Schuster is so keen to resign him. Funny how mortadella types like Brighi and Marchionni can control filet mignon types like Deco and Sneijder.

As for the great Henry, do you not recall his dramatic Swan Lake at the start of the World Cup Final?

Go home Fabio, they will roll out the red carpet for you.

Twas an excellent game that was...back and forth. ManU didn't take their chances while Arsenal did, except for that sad sack Bendtner. A lot of pundits said they'd miss Hleb, well Nasri already has as many goals thus far as Hleb collected in 3 seasons, so no, he wont be missed! Title race is back on...until they lose to West Brom.

So true...once they lose to Wbrom they will have l;ost to every promoted team, I wonder if that has ever happened to Arsenal before? Very Enjoyable game, but means nothing unless they beat teams in the lower half.

I am kinda on the fence with Bendtner, good technical player and has some size, just not sure if he lacks any footballing brains or simply inexperienced? He is still only 20 years old but then Cesc and Nasri are 21 and both are thinking-tactical type players that are miles ahead of him. On the other hand Walcott, no real footballing brains, but such a great athlete he is worthwhile to have in the squad. With Ade out an van Persie suspended, I am going to give him a few more games before I start slagging him.

you cannot seriously touch Gerrard at Anfield and expect to get away with it, soft penalty possibly, but there are laws of the universe that dictate this, similar to you are playing Florida in the NCAA at home and a couple of phantom pass interference calls go against ya by SEC refs.
How true, let's not mess with the Cosmic balance and start giving calls against Stevie G. That said, I don't put Stevie G. in the same class as Terry, Lampard, Rooney and A. Cole, truly despicable people.

Terry stepped on Totti's heel in the first match at Stamford Bridge. At the end of the half when Terry went to excuse himself, Totti rudely brushed him off. You could read the "va fa cul" from his lips.:D

Question: What do Inter, Chelsea and Real Madrid have in common?

Answer: They are going to win nothing this year.

I would definitely agree with Real Madrid, I think Inter has a good chance of winning something, and, as much as I hate Chelsea (more than ManU and Spurs), I think chelsea will definitely win something, probably EPL title and maybe CL and/or FA Cup. They have way too much depth not to win something. I remember early in the season Essien was hurt, and Deco got injured in warm-up so they bring on Ballacks. What team can lose the quality of Essien and Deco and not lose a step? They are in first place with minimal contribution so far from Drogba, J. Cole and Carvalho in addition to Essien and actually not much from Ballacks either. Imagine if they had actually signed Robinho. There are rumours that they want to strengthen their attacking options in January with either Michael Owen or Thierry henry:eek:

I can't see LIverpool lasting, Manu are not firing, and Arsenal does't have the depth.

I disagree.

The one player the Blues cant do without is Michael Essien, they look ordinary without him. Look at the way Vucinic burned Mikel, Essien would have anticipated what was coming and reacted accordingly. What's become of Makelele?

Udinese got timid against Inter in the San Siro, they could have won that game.

I have been telling friends that Essien has been the best all-around central mid-fielder in the EPL for the past couple of years, and that includes Stevie G. I don't need convincing. However, the reason Chelsea will win at least two competions is because of their depth, or lack of depth on other teams. Even without Essien, they have too much for other EPL teams. However, I think in the CL, either Arsenal or ManU can take them over a two game tie. I am not sure Barca or the Italian teams can take them in the CL. ManU is there only real competion in the league and they are carrying too much deadweight and over-the-hill players: Giggs, Scholes, Neville, O'Shea, van Der Saar. If Ferdinand or Vidic go down they are in big trouble. ManU's also missing the Canadian kid in the MF, Fabregas and Denilson overran  ManUs MF on the weekend.

I assume you are talking about Flamini, if so, I am not surprised. He was a great player for Arsenal and EPL style of football. He has pace, aggression and workrate which is great for the EPL and he had a good partnership with Cesc. However in Serie A which is more technical and not as fast as the EPL, he is bound to not look as good as he did at Arsenal.

Also, I saw Zarate at U20 Final game against Czech in Toronto and thought he was awesome, whole team really. I expect big things from Argentina's goalie Sergio Romero as well.
