There's the contradiction.

First you say that you don't want to injure an opponent but if he gives you the opportunity and even if he's defenseless, you are going to grab that opportunity and hit him hard, hard enough that you know he might get injured in which case the first part of your statement is just lip service. You really don't care if he gets injured.
There is a big difference between a well executed body check and an attempt to injure.
You have a piece of lumber in your hands. If you wanted to injure someone, then you would not hit with the shoulder, you would use the stick.
Thankfully there is an internal mechanism to control the stick work (ie the team goon)

Thats the way the game has been played for over a hundred years.

Just watch, Stajan will keep his up head up from now on.
Publicly he will not admit it, but I suspect he knows made a mistake.

If you played competitively you should know this.

I guess no one remembers the Scott Stevens hit on Lindros, same situation.
I don't remember any bleeding heart Laffs fans compaining on that one.
This is the NHL, the most elite hockey league in the world. Play to that level or get out.
Hitting is part of the game, get over it, like said above, you are expected to hit to beat your opponent.
And the moron comment comparing it driving, get your head out of the sand.
Stevens on Lindros ...
That was one of the hits that got us to this point.
Stevens caught several guys with their heads down, as I recall it has cost him as well.

I, for one, thought Mike Richards(Philadelphia Flyers) should have been suspended for the hit on David Booth(Florida Panthers).

Anytime contact is made with the head, the NHL has to look at it.
Hockey is a tough game, but it should not come at a cost of quality of life down the road.

All true.

I guess my issue has more to do with when a guy is defenseless and the opposing player knows it full well. They could still lay a solid hit on the guy and teach him a lesson even if they back off a bit, if they sincerely did not want to cause an injury.

It must be disheartening for the Leaf forwards and defensemen to know that every team they play has a better and sometimes muti-fold better goalie than their own.

....the Leafs actually beat one of these "better goalies" tonight..Marc_Andre Fleury. HE did look bad on Jason Blake's goal...but the winner by White...the best player earning under 1.5 million in the league IMHO...was a rocket...

White is the most consistent player on the team. The guy is not the biggest player in the league but watch his body position when he goes into the corner with an opposing player. He generally ends up with the puck.

Agree. How much would you guys say he is worth in the free agency market? He is eligible to command his fair market value at the end of this season, if I'm not mistaken.

White is a Restricted Free Agent at the end of this season.

Ok guys, what is wrong with Phil Kessel?
I would not be worried yet, just a little slump.
Need Hagman to pop a few and it is good that Blake has started scoring again.
Teams will not be able to key on Kessel.

Kessel has played in 28 games to date, scored 13 goals and has 8 assists for a total of 21 points and he is making $5.4mil.

Speeza has played in 30 games to date, scored 5 goals and has 14 assists for a total of 19 points while taking in $8mil.

The Leaf bandwagon is just fine.

Brian Burke has to get a legitimate NO. 1 centre to play with Kessel. He's been playing with players who are no better than 3rd line players on any contending teams and has managed to make them (Stajan, Ponikovrasky etc.) look much better than they've ever been, statistically anyway; but eventually teams will figure out how to contain Kessel because his linemates don't really have the necessary talent to get him the puck where he's most dangerous to score.

A good play making centre will also improve the power play; too often Kessel has to to the side board to get the puck and finds that he has no play other than passing the puck back to the point or shoot to have it blocked by the D, The Leafs need a play maker down low to make the power play work.

Kaberle may be expandable because of the way White has developed. I also like the way Gunnarsson was playing before he was injured. I think he may even have better potential than Schenn in developing into a great defenceman. Kaberle may be the trade bait to get that No. 1 centre. Is LeCavalier still available ?

Right.
Your contribution here is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo positive.
Sometimes positive, sometimes negative and sometimes speculative. You only say one thing over and over and over again. Totally fucking useless.

Ok guys, what is wrong with Phil Kessel?
seems to me that he keeps trying the same move when he carries the puck into the offensive zone ...the curl just inside the blue line.. and teams have caught on to it. Hew also isn't getting into the gritty areas for rebounds. But, as was said above, he's in a slump...he'll be fine...seems to have a lack of confidence right now...but I'm not worried at this point.

I will agree that some stronger linemates would help, but at this point, I think the Leafs will play the hand they have until the trade deadline. Then it will be clear whether they are buyers or sellers...my guess is sellers....
