Yes, Hamas took civilians prisoner, that's a war crime and HRW is correct to report on it.
Since you back HRW, that means you also back their reports saying Israel is raping and torturing women and children, committing genocide through starvation and bombs and the occupation of Palestine is illegal.

400 were IDF and of the 800 its likely Israel killed more than half of them.
Meanwhile, Israel killed 300 women and children in one night and you just cheer it on.
